Mrs. Kim Satterfield
Mrs. Kim Satterfield will be serving as the counselor at Billings this school year. Previously, Mrs. Satterfield taught secondary Language Arts for fifteen years, most recently at Sparta High School and before that, at Springfield Public Schools. She is so excited to help students succeed in the classroom and with post-graduation plans. Her experience and extensive training in college and career readiness and counseling strategies will be a tremendous asset to our educational program at Billings. Mrs. Satterfield has been married to Roger, an avid fisherman, for 31 years and they have two daughters, one who is a recent graduate of MSU and another currently attending MSU. They enjoy working on their farm and gardening. Mrs. Satterfield is looking forward to an amazing year working with Billing’s students, parents, and staff.
Jason Lozano - History
Hi all!! My name is Jason Lozano (low-zah-no). I live with my wife Megan (18 years), and four boys, Myles (16), Harris (13), Brooks (11), and Davis (7). I am originally from Kansas City, MO, but have lived in the Springfield area for the past 18 years. I am a fanatic for Chiefs football and Royals baseball. I graduated from Kearney High School in Kearney, MO. I am currently taking classes at Missouri State University.
Activities I enjoy include going to TRL with my family, officiating basketball for MSHSAA (15 years of service), and much more.
I am really looking forward for this opportunity to get to know my colleagues, students, and their families this year at Billings.
Mr. Tyler Johnson - English Language Arts
Mr. Johnson is a new ELA teacher at Billings. He has taught reading and writing to grades 7-12, mostly in rural districts similar to Billings. After a couple years in Springfield, he is excited to return to a smaller district. Outside of school, Mr. Johnson spends a lot of time reading books and making memories with his two daughters. He's excited to share his love of reading and writing with the students of Billings!
Mr. Wyatt Wilson - Agriculture
I am Wyatt Wilson from Gainesville Missouri. I enjoy the outdoors and to be home working on
the family farm. I graduated from Missouri State University in 2022 with a BSED in Agriculture
Education. I have a strong passion for agriculture, and I am excited to share that passion with
students. I am looking forward to a great year here at Billings.
Mr. Brady Greear - ISS/Dual Enrollment/Elementary Music & Head Baseball Coach
Hello, my name is Brady Greear and I will be the new Head Baseball Coach and ISS/Music teacher at Billings High School this year. This school year will be my 5th as a full-time teacher and 8th overall in education. As far as my education goes, I spent a few years chasing the baseball
dream before ultimately getting my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education from Liberty University in Virginia. My wife Brooke and I were born and raised in Southern Illinois and recently moved to the Springfield area in the summer of 2020. We have a 19-month-old baby girl, named Mycah, and two dogs as well that are her best friends. Some of our hobbies include
fitness, sports, hiking, and traveling when we can. I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Wildcat family and hope to be here for many years to come!
Mr. Peirce White - High School Math
Mrs. Candy Laney - College and Career Coordinator
I am proud to say that I am a 1973 graduate of Billings High School, where each student has the
opportunity to receive a quality education that will help them succeed in any career choice. After
graduating from BHS, I pursued my passion to become a teacher at Missouri State University. I
graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and a Master of Science in Guidance and
Counseling. I was honored to serve children as a teacher and school counselor in Republic, Marionville,
Crane, and Monett School Districts. Now I am coming full circle and looking forward to helping students
in the Billings community.
My parents, grandparents, and in-laws are also graduates of BHS. Additionally, my husband, Tyler, is a
former graduate of BHS as well as our three daughters and, currently, two of our grandchildren. We look
forward to the graduation of six more of our grandchildren graduating from BHS in the next five years.
What to Expect?
Beginning of the Day/Entering the Building:
As students enter Billings High School & Junior High School, we ask all students to enter the school through the Front Doors. Students may go to the Cafeteria in the morning, quickly go to lockers, or to a teacher's room for academic support. In the morning, teachers are available beginning at 7:30 AM to assist students with their academic and learning needs. BHS/BJHS highly encourages students to use this time to make up any tests, quizzes, or assignments they may have missed. Students will be dismissed from the Cafeteria at 7:45 AM. Students who arrive on campus after 7:45 AM will go immediately to their assigned classrooms.
Students Who Participate in SRTC:
Billings High School students who participate in SRTC will need to report to the High School Office before 8:00 AM. Students who report after this time will be counted tardy. Excessive tardiness will result in determining if students will continue to participate in their programs at SRTC. It is the expectation of BHS/BJHS that students are on time to their assigned locations.
Being on Time to Class is an Expectation:
A 5-minute bell will ring at 7:55 AM. Classes begin at 8:00 am. Students who do not arrive to class by 8:00 AM will need to report to the High School Office to record a tardy. After (4) tardies per semester, consequences will be assigned according to the Student Handbook. After their tardy has been recorded, students will report to class.
Classroom Time:
In classrooms, students will be taught a curriculum that helps them continue to develop their academic skill set. Teachers will prepare lessons and content. Students will be responsible to have phones in their backpacks or put away during class time. If a student needs to reach their parents, they may ask the teacher if they can go to the High School Office to make a call.
Lunch
During lunch shifts, students are asked to make their way through the line and find a seat for the shift. In the lunchroom students will be seated and eat their lunch. Outside lunches will not be eaten in the Cafeteria, as we will operate on a closed lunch session. Student ID cards will be used for lunch purchasing. If students lose they can purchase a replacement for $5.00 at the High School Office. Food deliveries will be turned away at the door. Students may visit with their friends and use their phones during lunch time.
Advisory Time:
During the daily Advisory time, students may gain more academic support from teachers. Students will participate in class-specific activities throughout the year and receive information about important upcoming events specific to their grade levels.
End of the Day:
At the end of the day, students will be dismissed at 3:40 PM. Students will exit the Front of the Building only. Students who are staying for athletics, activities, or tutoring will need to be with their assigned teacher or coach.
Students are encouraged to make the most of our academic options for learning and support at Billings High School & Junior High School, so they can continue to grow skills, improve their grades, and gain vital concepts in content. We cannot wait to welcome you on campus soon! See you August 23rd at 8:00 AM!
