Principals Message
I would like to congratulate all our basketball teams for winning ALL five games over Decatur on Thursday and Friday!! Great Job!
This week is a very BUSY week at AHS for our students. It is the last week before exams and we have several activities going on after school.
- AHS Robotics team is currently competing in Auburn at the Robotics Championships.
- AHS Cheerleaders are competing for a STATE title on Monday in Birmingham.
- AHS E-Sports team is playing in the AHSAA state tournament on Tuesday.
- AHS Christmas Band Concert on Tuesday.
- AHS Basketball teams at Hartselle on Tuesday.
- AHS Christmas Chorus Concert on Wednesday.
- AHS Wrestling at Florence on Thursday.
- AHS Basketball at Buckhorn on Thursday.
- AHS Basketball at Hewitt-Trussville on Friday.
- Last but certainly not least, WE have over 240 students scheduled to take the ACT on Saturday!!

2022-2023 Exam Exemption Forms
Students will receive their Exam Exemption form on Tuesday, Dec. 6 in their 1st Block A/Orange day class.
Students who are off campus 1st Block, must see Mrs. McIntyre for their form. (Mrs. McIntyre's office is located in the media center.)
Students must return their signed exemption forms to either their 1st Block teacher or Mrs. McIntyre by Friday, Dec. 9.
Early Exams Guidelines
Students will NOT be able take exams early due to family trips or vacations.
- If a student misses their exam time, they will have to take their exam(s) after they return for the 2nd Semester.
This is a new district guideline that will be used at AHS/DHS and AJHS.
Take State
- Good luck to our AHSAA Regional Champion Cheerleaders as the compete in the AHSAA State Finals on Monday, Dec. 5 at the Bill Harris Arena @ 5:36 p.m. in Birmingham. Go Bears!!
Christmas Band Concert
- The AHS Band Christmas Concert will be on Tuesday, Dec. 6 @ 7:00 p.m. in the AHS Auditorium.
AHS Ambassador/HOSA Service Project
Austin Ambassadors are partnering with HOSA to collect items for DHR to distribute to children in need.
Please help us help others by donating toiletry items (toothbrushes, toothpaste, dry shampoo, hairbrushes, diapers, wipes, socks, small blankets, etc.)
- Donation bins will be outside room A105 & in the front entrance of the school. We will be

E-Sports in AHSAA Playoffs
- The AHS Rocket League team defeated the Alabama School of Cyber Technology and Engineering on Friday to advance to round 3 of the AHSAA playoffs.
- Tuesday, we will play the winner of the Athens / Davidson matchup.

AHS Impressions is BACK!
- AHS School Publications is bringing back the literary magazine Impressions! Impressions is a magazine compilation of student works including poems, short stories, photographs, and visual art. Our goal is to showcase as many works as possible and to promote student creativity at AHS.
- Students are invited to submit works and art pieces to be published in these year's edition of Impressions! This is open to all AHS students, and teachers!
- All submissions should fall within one of the following categories: poetry, short stories, photography, or visual art (paintings, drawings, digital art, media art, collages, etc.) All submissions will be judged in a competition to determine the top 3 for each category and they will be showcased first in their section. You may submit more than one.
- To submit your Impressions, use THIS LINK. Poems and short stories can be written in a Google Doc then uploaded via link. Photography and visual art submissions can be uploaded in an image file format (JPG or PNG) to the form. If completing a physical painting or rendering, see Mrs. Kellough in F110 to determine the best way to upload.
- All submissions are due by 5:00pm on Friday, January 13th. The Impressions magazine will be published and sold at the beginning of March!
PSAT 10 Registration for Sophomores
- Attention Sophomores: It's time to register for the PSAT 10 https://tinyurl.com/PSAT10info2023 by December 8th!
- The PSAT 10 will prepare you for the PSAT/NMSQT which can qualify you for the National Merit Scholarship Program by showing areas of strength and improvement on the score report. 2023 AHS Yearbooks
- 2023 Yearbooks and Yearbook ads are now available for preorder!

- Yearbooks are currently at an early bird discount of $55 without a name stamp, or $60 with a name stamp.
- Ads are discounted too. Prices go up at Thanksgiving break, don’t wait!
- Preorders can also be made with check or cash in Mrs. Kellough’s room (F110)
