3 steps for preventing infectious disease:
1.Eliminate the source of pathogen
2. Keep food safe
Example:cook food to the proper temperature
3.Protect yourself
Example:Wash your hands frequently
Stop the spread!
2-Don't spread germs to objects
3-Don't spread germs to food
4-Keep you immune system strong by following healthy habits
Food-borne disease-
3 ways Infectious diseases can be transmitted:
Example:someone with a cold rubs their nose and then opens a door-cold virus is transmitted to the door knob.
2-Direct Contact-person to person contact
Example:touching an infected person's skin ,or when infected blood ,mucus,or other body fluids get inside another persons body.
3-Food poisoning:through contaminated food or water
Example:direct-spoiled food
indirect-person who prepares it.
Cold or flu:
indirect:breathing in airborne particles containing the virus
Injection drug use vs. infectious disease
Hepatitis B and C: transmitted by blood
Direct-touching infected blood
Indirect-needles(drugs,vitamins,tattooing,piercing)
