Social Studies Department Meeting

Tuesday, Aug. 16th

Chromebook Distribution

Students will receive chromebooks and training next week in the Media Center during Social Studies classes.

Magnet Themed Lessons

Remember to aim for at least one Magnet Themed Lesson for Unit of Study in your classes. Relevant and standards inspired. Let me know if you have any questions about this. See the link below.

Picture Day

Students will take pictures during Social Studies classes on Tuesday, Sept. 30th. Plan on about using about 20 minutes of class time to take them there and back that day. I'll send a schedule as soon as I create it.

We have a fairly large amount of Social Studies Department $ available. Please let me know if you have anything you would like to purchase for your classroom. Maps, globes, books, etc. If possible send a link to what you would like to purchase if found online or provide the catalog information.

Constitution Day is Tomorrow!

Be sure you are teaching about the Constitution tomorrow in your classes. I've emailed several resources. It's the law! :-)

Testing on the Chromebooks will begin in January. Until then, use AIL bubble sheets and scan using your Ipad.

*Important - the benchmark will close on the last day of the testing window. Be sure that all tests (including make-ups) are scanned and grading is completed by that last day of the window.

Learning Targets

Be sure to incorporate DOK verbs into your daily learning targets and aim for those higher levels to increase student engagement.
