The Poet
His Life
Shakespeare lived for 52 years. He was born in 1564 and died in 1616. His parents were very wealthy and lived in Stratford-upon-Avon. He married Anne Hathaway as a 18 year old boy. His children were named Susanna, Hamnet, and Judith, however Hamnet at the young age of 11.
His Accomplishments
He wrote more than 36 plays, 154 sonnets and many poems. He owned the famous globe theatre in 1599. Some of his famous plays consisted of Hamlet, Romeo & Juliet, Julius Caesar, and Alls well that ends well.
His Style
Shakespeare uses tricks to make his works better such as metaphors, imagery, symbolism, and many more. His writing is very thought out and in depth thanks to all the different styles he uses.
The Globe Theatre
The theater was based on the Colosseum. There was no heating or a/c so most plays were performed in the summer. The theater burned to the ground in 1613 just 3 years before Shakespeare's death. A 2nd one was built the year after.
William's Vocabulary
He used words that we would not use today. Some of the words are alas and hence. If we spoke these words today people would look at us differently.
