March 15 Courier
Laurel Ridge Elementary
Don't Forget...School Dance Tonight from 5:30 pm - 7 pm for current LRE students. This is not a drop off event. Parents must attend with the students.
It is hard to believe that it is already mid-March. Spring break and the end of another school year will be here before we know it. I know many of you are wanting to know about summer camp. We are still waiting on details about the summer construction projects in the school especially the kitchen as well as summer school locations for the district before we can decide whether or not we are able to have camp. The construction may impact our ability to serve meals. If we host summer school, we may not have the space to be able to run both programs at the same time. If we are able to have a camp, it will only be for a couple of weeks in June. Once we know if we are or are not able to have a camp, we will let you know.
We are starting to prepare for next school year. Today in courier for Pre-K - 4th grade, you will receive information about providing updated proof of residency as well as updating your child's information and contact information. Please return this information to your child's teacher no later than Wednesday, March 28. We are also giving parents an opportunity to provide input on their child's class placement for the upcoming year. Please complete the survey prior to April 13. Please click on the following link to complete the survey: 2018-2019 Class Placement Survey
The Information Technology Division of the DeKalb County School District is developing the district's technology plan for the next three years. Understanding technology permeates all aspects of our district, they want to make sure to include feedback from a comprehensive group of stakeholders. They are asking parents to complete the following survey: https://dekalb.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9FzlNcaM0W2V2PH
Ms. Genco is looking for input on an e-book collection so that students will have access to books at all times. To provide her input on books you would like to see in the collection, visit: https://goo.gl/forms/xSgacoZRMNuIWFuT2
Eric Hunt Care Closet
Laurel Ridge is going to be starting a Care Closet to support our students and families in need in memory of one of our former employees, Eric Hunt. Mr. Hunt cared deeply for the LRE community and always went above and beyond for our students.
We are asking for families to bring donations top start the closet with them to the Variety Show. We plan to start small and build the closet to include food, clothing, and school supplies. If you are interested in helping us sort and organize the closet, please contact Ms. Kyle at beth_kyle@dekalbschoolsga.org If you don't want to donate items, to the care closet, we will be collecting "Coins for Care" at the Variety Show. You can drop your loose change in the coin sorter when you come to the Variety Show. All coins collected will be put towards organizing and stocking the closet.
