Message from Dr. Reilly
Holiday party planning is in full swing. We are going to Party in our PJ's-(see PTO details below).
I am so EXCITED about our Farney Festivities on Wednesday 12/9. We have found a way to celebrate the season with all of our Farney Families while providing an opportunity to feature our 4th-graders in a one of a kind performance. 4th-grade teachers sent parent info earlier this week. ALL of our teachers will be decked out and ready to celebrate with you. This two-hour event will be filled with lights, fun, music, and a very special guest. We hope you take the opportunity to drive through with your family. Route information is linked below.
From the PTO
Hi Farney Parents! It is time to prepare for the annual holiday party. This year, we are not collecting our usual $10.00 party fee, but we do need your help with party supplies. Please consider donating specific party items that have been placed on Amazon Wish List and on SignUp Genius. Amazon items can be shipped directly to the school. Items purchased from SignUp Genius can be brought into the school and left at the front desk. Or, you may send items with your student. Please note, only the specific items on the list can be collected. Items are needed by 12/8/2020. Thank you for volunteering!

Free Rapid Covid-19 Tests
In CFISD, we are committed to doing all that we can to keep staff and students healthy and safe. With this goal in mind, we are pleased to share that we will be taking part in a statewide program (through the Texas Division of Emergency Management and the Texas Education Agency) offering free rapid COVID-19 tests for use in school districts. This program will allow CFISD to test individuals and reduce the risk of spread to our school community.
What COVID-19 tests are used in this program?
This program uses BinaxNOW tests, which provide results in 15 minutes and are administered using a nasal swab in the front area of the nostril. These tests have been shown to be highly accurate, with accuracy rates of 97-98% for symptomatic individuals.
Who can be tested?
All CFISD students and staff are eligible for testing if they exhibit COVID-19 symptoms which are unusual for them, also known as being symptomatic. A CFISD student ID or employee badge must be presented at the testing site for verification purposes. Consent for testing is required, and parents/legal guardians must consent for students under the age of 18.
This test is not designed for asymptomatic individuals who have been identified as a close contact of someone who has tested positive.
Where and when will the tests be given?
Monday – Friday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Old Windfern High School, 12630 Windfern Rd., Houston, TX 77064
Parking is available on the Bobcat Rd. side of the building. Please follow parking signs and remain in your vehicle.
Testing for CFISD staff is also available through our partner AFC Urgent Care on Barker Cypress.
How much does the test cost?
The test is free.
How do I sign up to be tested?
· No appointment is needed
· CFISD Employee ID required
· Must arrive at testing site no later than 30 minutes prior to closing
· Visit http://www.cfisd.net/covid19 for appointment scheduling, required information and consent forms
How will the information from the tests be used?
Test results will be provided to parents/staff before departing the testing site. The results will also be shared with the district and local health department to allow for public health reporting and contact tracing and to determine the stay-at-home period for individuals who test positive. Additionally, the total number of positive tests per school will be shared with the Texas Department of State Health Services, as is required by law.
What happens after I receive my test results?
If you test positive, this means you have COVID-19 antigens in your system. The district will provide you with a return to work/school date and information on isolating from others. It is also recommended you contact your healthcare provider.
The amount of traceable COVID-19 can vary in a person's body, so If you test negative and are symptomatic, you will be advised to contact your healthcare provider for an alternative diagnosis before returning to work/school.
If you have any testing site questions or need additional information, please contact the CFISD Office of Emergency Management at 281-897-6448 or EmergencyManagement@cfisd.net.

No Place For Hate
We continue to do our part to help combat bias, bullying and hatred by starting our second No Place For Hate activity. We will focus on Family and the many ways they are similar and different. Understanding these similarities and differences plays an important role in children’s identity development and their ability to observe and appreciate diversity.
Release of Information Forms If you are needing Behavior Rating Scales completed or are wanting the school to communicate with an outside entity, private tutor, doctor etc. , you will need to complete a Release of Information Form for this school year. You can request this form through the counseling office. When asking teachers to complete Behavior Rating Scales, you will need to give one week’s notice to allow teachers ample time to complete the forms. These forms will be faxed directly to the doctor’s office and you will be notified once this is completed.
Credit By Exam
Although the application window has closed to be able to skip a grade for the current 20-21 school year, there are 2 opportunities available during the year to test to skip for the 21-22 school year. Please see the district website for testing dates and application deadlines..

CFISD CODE OF CONDUCT AND STUDENT HANDBOOK FEEDBACK OPPORTUNITY
Each year the district asks for input from our staff, students, and community members regarding our Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook. These feedback forms are also available online on both the district and campus websites. The deadline for submission to the Office of Student Services is Friday, December 18, 2020.
To further assist efforts in gathering valuable feedback, in addition to the hard copy versions of the feedback form, the district has established an online form that stakeholders can use to submit their responses. The links for those online forms are listed below and will also be posted to the district and campus websites.
