Alief ISD Spotlights, Communications and Announcements
Congratulations to Alief ISD's Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) students who advanced to national competitions.
High school students in TAFE competed at the Teach Tomorrow Summit, the state-level competitions, and students from Elsik and Taylor qualified for nationals. Both Elsik and Taylor's national qualifiers will compete in the Educators Rising Nationals Conference that will be held in the summer in Orlando, Florida. Congratulations to Alief ISD's national qualifiers:
- Elsik - Yailyn Sanchez and Angela Santos
- Taylor - Qianna Dean, Kameron Keller, Cyndol Davis, Amy Ogundare, Sebastian Abreu, Davon McLean, Efe Ehimuh, Ashlynn Hawkins, Emily Reyes and Catherine Nguyen
In addition to the national qualifiers, Elsik and Taylor brought home other state-level honors:
- Elsik High School and Taylor High School were named Outstanding Chapters. This award is the top honor that is given to TAFE chapters that go above and beyond in every aspect of their club.
- Taylor High School teacher Andrea Lotsu was named Teacher Leader of the Year. Lotsu was first nominated and selected as the Area 4 Teacher Leader. She then was selected for this prestigious award by a panel of principals from the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals.
- Taylor High School student Kameron Keller was elected as the TAFE State President. Starting with a large application reviewed by the State Credentials Committee, Keller then ran a campaign while at the state competition in front of an audience of almost 3,000 people. Each school in attendance got one vote, and Keller received the most votes.
