Vocabulary Terms to know
Red Blood Cells : also called erythrocytes, RBC's are the most common type of blood cell.
White Blood Cells : also called leukocytes, white blood cells are primarily used for fighting disease.
Platelets : are a component of blood whose function is to stop bleeding by clumping and clotting blood vessel injuries.
Plasma : making up 55% of blood volume, plasma is used to hold blood cells in whole blood in suspension.
Red Blood Cells
Carry oxygen to body tissues, and remove carbon dioxide.
White Blood Cells
Fight cancer cells.
Plasma
Made up 90% water.
Platelet
Platelets are little pieces of blood cells. Platelets help wounds heal and prevent bleeding by forming blood clots. They are also made in bone marrow.
