Faculty F.Y.I.
August 21, 2019
The start of the year is nearly upon us! I hope you are excited for new students, new beginnings, and new challenges! It has been inspiring to see your dedication as you prepare your classrooms for the start of the year. Know that your hard work does not go unnoticed and is deeply appreciated.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our Back to School Barbecue on Friday. As of today, we have over 130 attendees who have RSVP'd. Please join me in praying for beautiful weather!
If you have not already picked it up, a reminder that your teacher & staff binder for the year is available in the faculty lunch room. These binders contain important information including:
- Faculty/Staff Handbook
- Technology Acceptable Use Policy
- Emergency Procedures
- Schedules
- Class Rosters
- Etc.
Please note, there are many documents in the binder that we have not yet had an opportunity to discuss and review as a faculty. I apologize that we have not yet had time to discuss these items; however, we will review all the important elements of the binder in detail at our faculty in-service on Tuesday, August 27th.
Lastly, I would encourage you to watch the brief video below on grit and its impact on student success. Enjoy!
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to seeing you all soon!
Sincerely,
Kevin Peloquin

Angela Lee Duckworth on Grit and the Growth Mindset
It turns out the grit is important when it comes to academic success... and not just kind of important, really important. In fact, in her studies Angela Duckworth found that grit, defined as passion and perseverance in pursuing long-term goals, was found to be a more significant indicator of student success than IQ scores, SAT scores, and socio-economic status.
Hear more from Duckworth about the role grit plays in the classroom and its connection to Dr. Carol Dweck's growth mindset in the video below!
