Teacher and Support Employees of the Year Announced!

Jonathan Scrivner, Teacher of the Year

Mr. Scrivner has over 13 years of teaching experience. He has served our district at the middle school level and as a master teacher for Project Lead the Way supporting other teachers and their development. He challenges his students, loves what he teaches and gets exemplary results in the classroom and in many competitions. Most recently, he traveled to Kentucky with our VEX Robotics team to take on the world and finished an outstanding Top 30 out of over 180 middle school national teams. He has served as a buddy teacher and helper for new teachers and has excelled in supporting students and staff in our mission to Make Gettys Great. You might see him designing prosthetic hands for people born without limbs, making buttons for our rising 6th grade students, coordinating our Miss GMS beauty pageant or organizing our Student Council to support students and staff. He has advanced STEM initiatives at our school to truly engage students in career-ready skills. He dedicates his time to students during and after school, making Gettys great both inside and outside his classroom! This year’s Gettys Middle School Teacher of the Year is Mr. Jonathan Scrivner! Congratulations, Mr. Scrivner, and thank you for all you do for our school!

Brianna Tucker, Support Employee of the Year

Nurse Tucker's highest priority is that all students have a safe and healthy day. She is always serving others and supporting our staff and students. You have seen her if you were the first person in the building in the early morning hours as there are often students waiting at her door before she even arrives. She sets high expectations and standards for a healthy environment. She serves over 15,000 health visits to her office every year and attends to nearly 80 students a day. This year, when one of our nurses went on maternity leave, she worked as one person doing the job of two. One of her supervisors says, “Nurse Brianna is the gold standard of a nurse who shows care and compassion to everyone she encounters. She has a genuine love and respect for other nurses, her students and all of the GMS and SDPC family. Nurse Brianna always has a positive attitude and is constantly building other people up even when she is having a busy and stressful day. I am so proud to have Nurse Brianna as one of my SDPC school nurses.”
