Thank you to our DES Families!

Dear DES Families,

Thank you for your continued support as students returned to the building this week. We did have a few hiccups but as a team, we are working on making each day better. With PreK beginning this week, we will continue to stay on schedule.

Technology is being distributed as device agreements are returned. If you have not returned your child's agreement, please get them in this week. If your child owes an obligation from the 2021 school year, please take care of that as soon as possible.

iReady testing begins this week. For these county placement assessments, students will need headphones. While we have some at school, some students perfer to use their own. Feel free to send in a pair of headphones with your child this week; it should not be a blue-tooth pair as these are not allowed with the program.

Thank you again for all your support and encouragement as we welcomed all our Dolphins to the buiding!

Welcome, PreK Families!

This week, we welcome our newest Dolphins on Thursday, September 9. The PreK team has some great events planned to help support our youngest as they join our pod.

• Tuesday, September 7: Drive Through to see your teachers, 4:30 - 6:00 PM. Pull in to the bus loop around to the PreK doors to greet your teachers.

• Wednesday, September 8: Virtual PreK Orientation: please check your folder for individual teacher times.

• Thursday, September 9: PreK begins!

Welcome to our families who are new to Denton Elementary! And welcome back to our families who have experience with PreK!

DES Parent/Teacher Association: Up and Running Again!

Please join the DES PTA at their first meeting scheduled for Tuesday, September 14, 2021. The meeting will be held in the DES Cafeteria beginning at 6:00 PM. The budget for the coming year will be discussed as well as planning/discussing events for the year. In 2020, our Mother/Son dance was a success and we hope to return to some of those great events throughout this year.

Dues are only $10 for the year. Funds are used to support classrooms, provide student incentives at the Book Fair, and many more things to make DES a special place to learn.

The PTA Officers have some great ideas for family events, so please plan to attend this meeting to give input. Thank you for your support!

Cafeteria Update

Did you know that our Dolphins have 6 different lunch options every day? This year, there are two hot entrees, a specialty salad, deli sandwich, lunchable (cheese, yogurt, crackers, veggie), or peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Fresh fruits and vegetables are also a key part of the lunch offerings each day.

This year, students are able to purchase snacks each day; choices include chips, cookies and gummy snacks. On Friday, ice cream is available for $1.00. Please use MySchoolBucks to put funds on your child's account if you will allow him/her to purchase snacks.

Breakfast continues in the classroom each day as before. Both breakfast and lunch are free again this year; however, we do ask that you still submit a Meal Benefit form as this impacts school funding.
