A MESSAGE FROM MR. LUCITA
Dear Jaguar Band Families,
WOW! What a crazy week we just finished! We hope that all of our Jaguars Band families were safe and came through this crazy week with as few issues as possible! We know there are some that had some damage due to the sustained freezing temperatures, and we hope they are able to recover as quickly as possible! I must say that last week was the craziest week of cold weather I have ever seen in Texas! Then, just like that, it was 70 degrees and sunny today!!
With the craziness of last week, we have numerous adjustments to the calendar. Let’s get started and get that info out to everyone.
Winter Guard! The first contest of the season is rapidly approaching, and the guard program is hard at work preparing for the first show! This week we have several rehearsals scheduled.
- Monday, Feb 22: Varsity 3 - 8 p.m.; JV is 4 - 8 p.m.
- Thursday, Feb 25: Regularly-scheduled practice 5 - 8 p.m.
- Saturday, Feb 27: Time TBA
Let talk Percussion!!! This week we have our regularly-scheduled FULL Percussion Camp for all current 8th - 11th grade percussionists on Wednesday, February 24, from 5 - 7 p.m.
How about a little Johnson HS Wind Ensemble rehearsal! We will have our regularly-scheduled Wind Ensemble rehearsal Tuesday, February 23 from 5 - 7 p.m.
UIL Solo & Ensemble has been rescheduled for March 6th!! It will be located at Hays High School or Lehman High School. Mr Malik will share the dates for the second round of accompaniment rehearsals as soon as those are locked in with the accompanist. The date of UIL Solo & Ensemble is confirmed. We are just waiting for confirmation of the location. We will let everyone know once we have that information.
We will be kicking off our spring virtual fundraiser soon!!! Please make sure that everyone is prepared to participate at the very highest level! This fundraiser will help us cover the cost of all things Jag Band related! We only have two fund raisers a year, and it is incredibly important that we make the very best of them. We have a super busy fall marching season with lots of festivals, travel, clinics, technicians, visual enhancements and equipment; this fundraiser helps us cover a significant portion of these costs!! We need everyone to participate and help make this a huge success!
Wow, that’s a lot of items crammed into one weeks' newsletter!! However, it is what we do and what helps our students develop time management skills and responsibility. High School Band gives so much more to our students than music!!
Enjoy the warm temperatures ahead and we'll see everyone this week!

Band Sponsorships and opportunity to put Student names on trailer!
The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! If you would like color copies of our Sponsorship Brochure, we are happy to provide them.

A new addition to our Sponsorship options is the Friends and Family Level. This level offers various options for businesses as well as an option for band families: For $200, you can have your child’s name and graduation year on our band trailer indefinitely with the option to simultaneously add sibling name for an additional $100.

8th Grade Percussion Camps being this week - FINALLY!
8th grade camps for woodwinds and brass will be starting soon!
8th grade camps for the Jaguar Guard (JAGuard) will start in March!
*These camps are not mandatory but they will definitely give your student a strong start to the 2021 marching season! It's a great opportunity to meet 9-11th grade students and have fun!

Winter Guard
Did you know that Color Guard is year round!? In the "Spring" color guards enter competitive "winter guard" circuits. Check out last year's Jaguar Winter Guard performance on their web page located HERE. If you know of someone that might be interested in joining the winter guard for the Spring Semester, have them get in contact with Mr. Duffy! It's not too late!
Communications
The band directors and boosters primarily rely on Charms to communicate information. Make sure your information is up to date in Charms. Reminder that the Jaguar Band school code is: JohnsonJaguarBand
