A Note From the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Are you interested in some great opportunities to get involved at Munson? We have been very lucky to have outstanding parent volunteers at Munson Elementary School, and we hope that tradition will continue for many years to come. I encourage every parent and guardian to attend at least one PTO meeting during your child's time at Munson. Ask questions, offer ideas, and get involved! There are so many ways to help - the PTO will find a way for you to utilize your personal strengths and accommodate your busy schedule. New ideas and perspectives are always welcome! I hope you'll consider attending at least one PTO meeting this school year (the next one is Thursday, March 14 at 4pm here at school), volunteering at an event, or submitting your name for a board position for next year, and help us keep our PTO strong and successful!
Thank you,
Mathew Prezioso
Principal, Munson Elementary
Mr. Prez's Pic of the Week
Thank you to all the people who joined us for Sweets with Someone Special over the last few weeks. We hope you enjoyed this time with your students!
Summer School FYI
Chardon Local Schools will hold summer school on the weeks of June 3, 10, and 17. Third grade testing will be the following week for any students who have not passed the required score for the AIR test. Stay tuned for more information!
The Clinic Corner
Hi everyone! We would like to clarify the services we provide daily in the clinic.
- We are allowed to do daily care, first aid, and emergent care.
- If any over the counter medication or prescribed meds are needed during the school day, there are required forms allowing us to administer the medication/medicine. We have copies of the forms in the clinic, and they are also available online under the Health Services page.
- If your child is in a boot, on crutches, in a sling, has a cast, etc., for safety reasons, we need a note from the treating doctor. A letter is also required for any treatments or accommodations that may be needed outside a normal educational day. For example: extended time to get to class, excused time from gym, indoor recess, restricted from using the steps, etc.
- It would be best practice to ALWAYS provide the school with a doctor's note if your child has any medical appointment during the school day.
Additionally, we are still looking for donations of gently used PANTS (size 8-16, boys and girls) and TISSUES for the clinic and classrooms. We appreciate your generosity!
If you have any questions, please give us a call at Park or Munson. Thank you!
Sarah Park and Renee Kolenich
Infinite Campus Annual Update
The Annual Update must be completed by ALL Chardon Local Schools households every year, for every student, even if there are no changes. This ensures that you have created your Parent Portal Account so that we have the most accurate information for your student and household. This helps us to contact you promptly in case of an emergency, allows you to pay for student meals and school fees online, and gives you access to important forms and documents, including report cards. We need your updated information as soon as possible! Please find Annual Update instructions HERE.
Mrs. Sobodosh, Mr. Buemi, and Mrs. McClintock's classes are still the only classes to have completed ALL of their Annual Updates! Mrs. Suszynski, Mrs. Woodrow, and Mrs. Burress's classes are SO CLOSE, with only ONE left to complete! Mrs. Hardman (2 left) is close behind, followed by Mrs. Turk and Mrs. Ferguson with 3, Mrs. Dinko and Mrs. Bates/Miss Gillespie with 4, and Mrs. Elliott with 8.
If you are not sure if your Annual Update has been completed, check with the office. Thank you!
Topper Ticket Winners!
Topper Tickets are part of Munson's PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) system and are given to students as a special recognition when they demonstrate a Topper Trait - Taking Responsibility, Offering Kindness, and Persevering. Each day, we randomly select a few Topper Ticket winners from each grade level to receive a prize! Check the newsletter each week for their names!
1st grade: Arlo Cotterman, Victoria Ramirez, Brandon Coleman, Scarlett Munn, Jude White, Avery Harder
2nd grade: Emma Fletcher, Landon Tasler, Lizzie Tournas, Gio Gibbs, Noelle Gamiere, Jace Cutler
3rd grade: Addy Kovacs, Franklin Boyle, Kaden Groves, Reese Cubranich, Jacob Mele, Addie Vanek
We also randomly choose one Topper Ticket winner per grade to spin the Wheel of Fun each week! (We even have a Wheel of Fun theme song! Ask your kids about it!) The prizes on the wheel are a step up from the usual, and include things like having lunch with a friend in Mr. Prez's office, visiting a "secret" part of the school, having your name on the school sign outside, book vending machine tokens, and more! Congratulations to this week's winner - John Keegan! John won a ton of cool prizes from the Mystery Box!
