RAINCROSS BELL
The Raincross symbol has been long associated with Riverside. It appears on flags and architecture and is inspired by Father Junipero Serra, founder of the California missions.
BOOKER T. WASHINGTON BUST
Booker T. Washington was an African American educator and activist. His views differed from those of W.E.B. Du Bois because Washington believed that African Americans should accept disenfranchisement and social segregation as long as Whites allowed them economic progress, educational opportunity and justice in the court system.
MISSION INN
The Mission Inn was designed to look like the Spanish Missions. Their is a total of 21 Spanish Missions in California. These missions are significant because they represent a part of California history.
NANJING BELL
The boxer Rebellion was triggered by imperialism in China. In response to this rebellion a multinational force was organized to crush and bring down the rebellion. As a result many nations received extremely favorable commercial treaties with China
1700 SPANISH CANNONS
The U.S. helped start a rebellion in Panama. As a thanks, the United States was granted the Panama Canal. This canal was very beneficial because it allowed the US faster passage and increased international commerce.
TAFT CHAIR
The Progressive Era was brought about in response to political and corporate abuse. The Progressive Era brought about several reforms. These reforms include civil rights, child labor laws, women's suffrage, etc.
TEDDY ROOSEVELT
Theodore Roosevelt's biggest accomplishment would be his gaining American control over the Panama Canal. This is because it allowed America to have a greater advantage during war.
CHINESE PAVILLION
Chinese immigrants most likely went through Angel island. The Chinese exclusion act was implemented to restrict immigration into the United States of a certain ethnic working group
INTERNATIONAL ROTUNDA
The United States finally entered the war because of the Zimmerman letter and unrestricted submarine warfare
