  • Drive: Docs , Sheets, Slides, and Forms for individual & collaborative work; add ons to extend the capabilities (ex. use Flubaroo to create self-grading assessments)
  • Maps: create custom, interactive maps
  • Calendar: individual and collaborative, using calendars to communicate with students & parents
  • Photos: house and share your photos, create video projects
  • Mail: link your & accounts
  • Sites: create individual or collaborative websites yourself, or as a student project
  • Classroom: distribute, collect, and grade assignments; post information for your students; carry on class discussions
  • Google+: using it for professional networking and as resource on just about any imaginable topic
  • Hangouts: connect to others via voice and/or video
  • Chrome: maximize your Google experience by using their browser; add extensions to Chrome to give it new abilities
  • Groups: create a digital space for departments to meet and share resources, PLC's, etc.
  • YouTube: using existing videos; recording, uploading, and editing your own; playlists; channels

  • Castle Learning - online/hard copy test generator and state test prep for all (tested) subjects
  • Core Connect - a curated list of thousands of Common Core aligned lessons and resources
  • Digital Nation - ready-made and customizable Smart Notebook lessons on nearly every subject/topic.
  • Discovery Education - a vast library of high-quality streaming videos, many with supporting teacher materials; teachers can optionally create student accounts and assign videos outside of class
  • MobyMax - K-8 Common Core aligned curricula in ELA, Math, and Science; students take placement tests and then are automatically assigned activities targeting weak spots in the standards
  • Smart Notebook - the interactive software that is built to work with SmartBoards
  • Starfall - interactive activities for Math and Reading, Pre-K through 2nd grade; many of the activities work very well on a SmartBoard

Online Tools (sample)

  • Biteable - use their animated slide templates and music to create polished videos
  • EdPuzzle - make YouTube videos more interactive by turning them into lessons with questions/writing prompts
  • Formative - another free tool for using a variety of devices to get a read on your students
  • Kahoot! - turn review or test prep into a class game
  • Newsela - provides multiple versions of current event articles at different reading levels
  • Plickers - a great combination of high and low tech for doing formative assessment in the classroom; the only one who needs a device is the teacher
  • Quizlet - another free tool for online flashcards, review tests, and study games
  • Remind - a service that lets students, and parents if you choose, to sign up to your class and receive text message reminders of things like assignments; teachers and students never see each other's phone numbers
  • SAS Curriculum Pathways - thousands of Common Core aligned resources and lessons for the core subjects; definitely worth checking out
  • Socrative - pose a question and let students use any internet-enabled device to provide live feedback
  • TED-Ed - the site has a number of pre-made lessons involving TED videos; it also provides a tool that lets you use any video of your choosing to make your own lesson
  • Vibby - take any existing YouTube video and highlight portions of it to be watched and add questions or discussion prompts
