The Au Gres-Sims School District
www.ags-schools.org
Hello Au Gres-Sims Families,
It is very easy to point out what ISN'T being done, but I would like to challenge you to look at what IS being done. Wednesday, November 17th is Educational Support Professionals Day. It is a day of celebration that most people don't know about, but it is a day that we celebrate and show gratitude to the people that make schools work. Wednesday we celebrate our custodians, cooks, bus drivers, and paraprofessionals. In education, it is the little pieces of gratitude that go the furthest. Gifts are nice, but words of support and thankfulness are equally, if not more, impactful, and they don't cost you anything other than a few minutes of your time. Even if you do not have a personal relationship with any of our support personnel (but you or your child most likely does), please consider showing them how much you appreciate what they do. AGS absolutely could not function without these people!
Everyone listed below has an AGS email, formatted the same way, their last name, followed by their first initial, @ags-schools.org.
Example, John Smith would have the email smithj@ags-schools.org

K-12 Principal's Update
We are now going on year 7 of having chromebooks on campus for student access. Recently, these have been vital tools to bridge Covid learning hurdles and are another tool in our tool box to enhance student learning. Lately, It seems like I've fielded many concerns from parents who have indicated that they can’t use their chromebook at home because they don’t have internet. Without the internet, students can still work in “offline” mode. Although they can’t access the internet, they can still create, open, and edit Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Any changes that they make will save and sync next time the Chromebook is connected to the internet. Maybe not having the internet is not such a bad thing!
A hearty congratulations to our varsity football team on a perfect season so far, 11-0! The team hosts the Colon Magi on Saturday at 1:00 in Semifinal action. Winner of this game earns a trip to the Superior Dome in Marquette, Michigan, to play for a State title on Saturday, November 20, at 2:00 pm! Tickets for this game need to be purchased through the following “Go Fan” web link- https://gofan.co/app/school/MI4040. Also, lower elementary parents (grades 3 and lower), please make sure that you are in attendance with your children if they are attending the game. During the game all students should be in the stands. Go Wolverines! Keep making history and representing us proudly!!!
As a reminder, we do not have school on Monday as this is our district wide safety day. Good luck to everyone in your safe and successful hunts. Don’t forget to enjoy your peace and quiet out in the woods while creating great memories and bonding opportunities. And one last note, the PTO bazaar has been canceled for Saturday, November 13, and is rescheduled for Saturday, December 4.
Athletics Update
If we win tomorrow, the team will play in the MHSAA 8-man state final next Saturday, November 20 at 2pm in the Superior Dome on the campus of Northern Michigan University in Marquette. This would be the first state final in the history of Au Gres-Sims!
