Honoring Dr. Brady and the profession
Associate Professor of Native Hawaiian Health, received the Hawaiʻi Medical Association (HMA) President's Award at the annual Ola Pono Ike awards ceremony on October 5th. Dr. Brady, a former president of HMA, also performed The Queen's Prayer, Hawaiʻi Aloha and a processional chant for the past presidents during a busy evening for him. The annual gala also provides scholarship support. This year MD students Samuel Bell and Nicholas Simon (2nd year) and Sydney Yee and Tate Higashihara (1st year) received Hawaiʻi Medical Association Book Scholarship Fund awards. The event also included the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Livingston Wong, transplant pioneer in Hawaii and the naming of Dr. Scott Miscovich as Physician of the Year. Dr. Mischovich, along with Lt. Gov. Josh Green, MD, co-founded H4 which has been instrumental in the launch of Joint Outreach Centers (medical clinics) for the homeless on Oahu. HMA also installed its newest president, psychiatrist Dr. Michael Champion.
