Wow! We love our students and are thrilled when they are recognized for all the positive acts of kindness they contribute in their classrooms!
Miss Wetzel's Counselor Corner
We started to recognize students who are seen practicing their Steps to Strong in Every Way skills by giving them golden tickets! Students can earn golden tickets when they are seen showing compassion, empathy, managing strong emotions, being assertive, or problem solving!
For the month of January, we had over 100 golden tickets submitted in the raffle!! It has been so wonderful to hear the children share their reason for earning their golden ticket(s). A few stories shared with me include: helping a classmate, giving coins they earned in class to another student, picking up trash in the cafe, inviting a peer to play with them at recess, solving a problem on their own, cheering on a student who won the raffle, offering to help another student, focusing their attention on their work, waiting patiently, and so many more!
The winners of the golden ticket raffle this month were John Florian, Marik Mitchell, Alek Baloski, and June Lambert!
We are so proud of ALL of the students who earned a golden ticket for the month of January!
SGE Spotlight: Second Grade
In second grade we took a virtual reality field trip to Antarctica! We learned about the climate, penguin life, and what is being done to preserve life on that continent. Little did we know that the Antarctic climate would follow us back to Indiana!!! This was also a good preview of our upcoming science unit on states of matter.

Valentine Parties - Spread Love and Kindness not Candy
We look forward to celebrating Valentine's Day with our students at their classroom parties on Thursday, February 14th. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to emphasize the life skills of friendship and kindness with all of our students. As you are out shopping for Valentine cards to share with classmates, please select cards void of candy. Regretfully, we will be unable to pass out the candy. We have many students with food sensitivities and allergies and as always, our main goal is to keep everyone safe. If you elect to purchase cards that have contain something extra attached to them, please ensure they are inedible. This could include pencils, erasers, stickers, etc. Thank you for ensuring that all students can have a safe and fun celebration.

Did You Know?
ZCS, like other public schools, has a no-idling policy for vehicles on campus. The purpose of the policy is to limit vehicle emissions that might be brought into the schools and adversely impact the health of our students and staff. If you are stopped on campus for more than 5 minutes, please remember to turn off your engine. We thank you for abiding by this policy to help reduce the exposure to these emissions.
