Music Updates from Ms. Parker
Hi everyone! I hope everyone is staying well and enjoying time with your family. Here are a couple of new resources for this week that I hope you will check out!
The Singing Classroom – This is a site that is also in the Learning at Home digital curriculum that I highly suggest you check out! It has many new songs broken down by ages and activities to go along with them. Some of them may be familiar from class, but a lot of them are new songs and games. When you get to the site, click “login” at the top. For the email, enter “sc4students” and the password is “CFISDstudents”. The website is: https://www.thesingingclassroom.com/
Percussion Playalong: This activity will use different objects you have around the house. They recommend a box, metal can, silverware or cutlery, and a lid (like pot lid in the kitchen). This will look familiar to most older students – it is the same type of video we use with the boomwhackers in class, but anyone can try it. It suggests 4 players to play along but you could easily do it with 2 or if you want a real challenge, try it all by yourself! While you play the video see if you can play the correct object when the “dots” get to the bottom. If it is a long “dot”, hit that object over and over. Play around with different ways to play the objects – do you like the sound of hitting them on the floor or hitting them with a wooden spoon, or pencil? Use your imagination to see what you like best! Percussion Playalong
Finally, here is the next episode of The House on Music Street! See if you can make up your own verse to the silly song. Good luck with the tongue twister! House on Music Street Episode 3
Please send me an email if you ever need anything or just want to say hi! I’d love to see what you come up with and how you are incorporating music into your lives at home!

Art with Ms. K.
Hello artists! I hope you are all staying healthy and busy!
This week should be beautiful outside, and since it is Earth Month, let’s do some outdoor art activities! This Wednesday is Earth Day! *Note to parents: These activities are suggestions and completely optional! They are simply ideas to help break up that quarantine boredom and get those creative juices flowing! Any grade level (and any family members!) are free to get involved! If you participate in any of our art challenges, please share so we can see! Options are: -Post a picture on Instagram and tag our studio account @hesartstudio to be featured! -Email pictures to me to then be used (with your permission and credit to the artist) at kirsten.gould@cfisd.net
Art is a wonderful way to exercise our brains and spread positivity! THIS WEEK’S ART CHALLENGES: 1. Recycled Sculpture! Recycling is so helpful to our environment and our planet! If you’re like me, you’ve got lots of cardboard lying around right now (toilet paper rolls anyone??) My challenge for you is to create a sculpture of ANYTHING using only recycled materials such as:
-cardboard
-plastic bottles
-cans
-paper
**You do not NEED tape or glue, but of course it comes in handy! I will attach/link a photo of some ideas on ways to join recycled materials together! Send pictures of your creations! https://i.pinimg.com/564x/94/5c/a4/945ca4a634ff06d967d1eedf249bd750.jpg
