Room #61 Eagle Updates

What's happening in room #61

Ellis Island Simulation

Friday is our big day! Students will become immigrants in the early 1900's. The day will begin with our "immigrants" getting off of their boats and waiting to enter Ellis Island.

Many of the children have asked about dressing up. I have attached some photographs of immigrants at Ellis Island in 1901. Feel free to have your child dress up. This is optional, but we really encourage it. Be creative! **If you are one of our parent volunteers, we encourage you to dress up too!

Thank you,

Ellis Island Volunteers

Thank you for all of you who have volunteered. We will meet tomorrow, Friday, January 29th around 7:20 for some on the job training. The kids are going to have a blast! Please come ready to have some fun.

Valentine's Day

We're asking children to make a Valentine's box to collect valentines at our class party. Boxes are due Friday, February 12th. Our party is that same day. We have 25 students in our class. I will send out a student list as the date approaches. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please let me know.

Solar Cooking

For our next big project, 3rd grade will be making solar cookers. We are asking for donations of shoe boxes, foil, packing tape, black construction paper and plastic wrap. If you have any of these items and you wouldn't mind donating them, we would love to have them. We will send home information in the future, for volunteers to help build. Thanks for everything!
