Welcome to Week 6!
Presentation Assemblies
As the COVID restrictions continue to ease, we have been given the go ahead to include the attendance of a limited number of parents / carers at our end of year Presentation Assemblies. While this is terrific news, we still have strict guidelines to adhere to.
What does this mean? We will be able to accommodate ONE visitor / attendee only for students who are receiving awards.
While we would love nothing more than to welcome our entire community, this unfortunately is not possible.
Students who are receiving awards at their stage based Presentation assembly (see times and dates below), will bring home a note explaining the protocols, along with ONE entry ticket. Families will need to make a decision about who will attend the assembly. While we understand that not all parents / carers live under the same roof, we cannot make exceptions for anyone. We simply do not have the space required, (adhering to COVID safe guidelines) to have more than one adult per award winner in attendance.
Our original plan to publish names of award winners (with photographs) following each assembly, will proceed, as will the movie compilation which will be available to all community members on Wednesday 9 December.
We are grateful that our award winners will be able to have one family member present for this special occasion and respectfully request that our guidelines are adhered to. There will be no admittance to any assembly, without a ticket.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
Staff News
All three teachers have contributed greatly to the Maryland Public School community over a number of years and will be sorely missed. We will farewell them later this term and of course, wish each of them great success in their new schools.
Principal's Picnic - Award for Excellence excursion news
We have found an awesome alternative however, and have booked movies at Glendale Event Cinemas for Wednesday 9 December.
At this stage (just waiting on final confirmation from booking officer), we will have pre-screenings of the following two movies; Maya the Bee 3 (animation rated G) and The Croods 2 (animation rated PG).
Both movie trailers are available to watch on on Youtube (links below).
I hope to have final information sent to families tomorrow. Watch this space!
Congratulations Year 6
Have a wonderful week everyone,
Mrs Van Egmond

Band Update!
Junior Band Students - Well done to all our junior band students who progressed to the Senior Concert Band last week! It is wonderful to see how far they have all come this year! Our band students are working hard to be ready to do their Christmas Carols performance via video link. Watch this space!
Band Commitment and Policy Information Note was emailed to all parents on Friday 13/11. E-permission is to be completed on the Skoolbag app. Click on the Maryland PS crest, go to E-Form , scroll down to 2021 Band Commitment
Returning Students 2021 - All students who are intending to remain in band in 2021, are required to fill out e-permission no later than Friday 27/11 to secure their place and hired instrument!
New Students 2021 - We are now looking for new students in Years 1-5, to join our junior band program in 2021! If your child is interested, fill out the e-permission, which will need to be completed by Friday 11/12. Instruments available in 2021 are trumpet, saxophone, clarinet, flute, bass guitar and trombone!
New Instruments - We have just purchased a wide range of brand new shiny instruments for our band students to use in 2021! Here at Maryland Public School we value music education.
Our final band lessons will take place in Week 10 Monday 14th December instead of the Wednesday. All hired instruments need to be brought to school on that day and returned to the band storeroom where they will be stored over the holiday break. As a huge thank you to all our wonderful band students, Monday of Week 10, the band teachers are providing a special free pizza lunch for our whole band that day!

Woolworths Cricket Blast Intra-School Cup Report
Congratulations Stage 2 students and the Stage 3 cricket team on your participation in yesterday's Woolworths Cricket Blast Intra-School Cup. Students learnt skills of batting, straight arm bowling and fielding, supported by staff from Cricket NSW.
Braving the hot weather, MPS students smashed fours and sixes and learnt to take wickets in the field. Great sportsmanship was shown by all.
Riley from 5/6DW described the day as 'The Junior Big Bash League'.
I hope parents enjoyed exciting footage and updates of the Stage 3 cricket team game on Class Dojo.
Thank you to all of the teachers for their flexibility.
Enjoy your cricket this summer boys and girls and keep practising those skills!
