Suicide Prevention

Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death in youth and adolescence. Suicide is a permenant solution to a temporary problem that people shouldnt have to go alone. If you know someone who is affected by suicidal thoughts please tell a responsible adult as soon as possible to help with going through these situations. Suicide is typically prefaced by certain signs:

-Giving things away

-Withdrawl from friends and family

-Tired frequently

-Reckless behavior

are just a few of the many signs that could show that someone is suffering. Listen if someone comes to you about suicidal thoughts, and afterwards no matter what go to a teacher or a responsible adult and make sure they are aware of the problems this person is going through.

In the United States there is at least 1 suicide every 16 minutes.

15.8% of students have seriously considered suicide.

12.8% of students have a concrete plan on how they would commit suicide.

1.8% of students have tried to commit suicide at least once in the past year.

Dont allow these statistics to increase if you know someone or you yourself are suffering from depression or suicidal thoughts please talk to someone and get help.
