Report Cards and Parent Conferences
Since a successful parent-teacher conference is a joint enterprise, we ask that parents arrive prepared with the following information for the conference:
- Your child’s behavior at home.
- Health habits, including eating, sleeping and general disposition.
- Use of time out of school, including play, reading, study habits, television, hobbies and interests.
- Relationship with parents, other members of the family, friends, and neighbors.
- Attitude toward authority and ability to accept direction.
- Observations of your child’s home and community life, which you feel, will help the teacher “know” your child. Your child’s feelings about school.
- Questions you may want to ask about your child and his/her progress.
- Suggestions which would help the teacher work more effectively with your child.
We look forward to making parent conferences a successful experience for all families!
Thank You, PTO!

Computer Science Education Week
Computer Science Education Week (CSEd Week) is held in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (Dec. 9, 1906). This year CSEd Week is December 9th through 13th. Admiral Hopper is known for popularizing the idea of machine-independent programming languages, which led to the development of the programming languages we have today (Python, Java, C++, etc.). A programming language is what a computer reads to execute all of its functions. Coding is the process of writing that language out in organized patterns for computers to read. Think of English as a programming language and writing a recipe as coding. Humans are the computer that reads the code in the English language and makes the recipe.
We have two special activities in our schools this week. In Technology Class all students K-6 will have the opportunity to participate in an Hour of Code. This is a challenge to participate in an hour of some type of coding activity. The purpose is to encourage students to explore computer programming and make connections to how it applies to the real world. We hope that you might ask them about their coding experience and see what they learned. We are also having special assemblies for students in 2nd through 6th grade where they will explore design thinking, be encouraged to innovate and be empowered with the idea that each student has the capacity to use their ideas to shape the world.
