The Month of May Means GOAL SETTING!

Even though our kindergarten through 2nd grade students don't take STAAR everything they do in one way or another leads to their future goals or or successes. We talk a lot about setting goals at Park Crest. This past week we talked specifically about math and reading goals.

All of our students have a goal of earning a 76% or higher on EVERY reading assignment they complete (classwork, tests, even homework).

In math students are aiming to earn a 75% or higher on EVERY math assignment they complete (classwork, tests, even homework).

Some of our students thought that was tooooo easy so we challenged them to LEVEL UP! If students chose to level up they are aiming for a reading goal of 87% and a math goal of 88%!

Be sure to ask your student about their accomplishments!

Talking with your Child about Current Events

Children hear about what's going on in the world through social media, friends, or adults' conversations. Sometimes the news is uplifting — like kids their age taking a stand on social or environmental issues. Other times, children may worry about current events and need an adult to help make sense of what's happening.

If you are wondering what to say to help ease your child, here is some information you can use to guide your conversations at home from KidsHealth and Common Sense Media:

Did you know that April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month?

Here is some information that I am sharing to remind students about how to stay safe, as well as identifying adults that they trust:

Dress Code Requirements

  • Parents, please help us ensure your students are following the school dress code. Shirts should have a collar and can be red, white, or blue. Pants, shorts, or skirts should be khaki, blue, or black. No Jeans.
  • On Mondays we celebrate college awareness. If students are wearing a college shirt, they can wear jeans.
  • Fridays are school spirit days. Students wearing a Park Crest shirt may wear jeans on Friday.

water Bottles

Please make sure your student comes to school EVERYDAY with a water bottle. ALL of our water fountains have been turned OFF. We have water bottle filling stations but without water bottles students cannot access the water.
