"Unlock the Treasure in Every Child" - February 3, 2020
Positivity Project - Forgieness
Our focus this week will be on the character strength of Forgriveness
Forgiveness is the ability to move past being injured, and allow yourself to reconcile with the person who hurt you. Forgiveness can often be seen as a selfless act, but it also carries many benefits for those who practice it. Those who demonstrate forgiveness have the ability to move forward after someone has hurt them. Forgiveness is often rooted in the idea that all people are valuable and worthy of a second chance. Many who forgive have the ability to consider things from another’s perspective.
The parent virtue for the Forgiveness is Temperance. Strengths of temperance protect us from excess. Strengths comprised in this virtue are forgiveness, humility/modesty, prudence, and self-control.
Please use these quotes, video links, and character card to host conversations with your child about the character strength.
"Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them." ~Bruce Lee
"Forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future." ~Paul Lewis Boese

Book Fair!
The Buckhorn Creek Elementary PTA is putting on our 2nd annual Book Fair. This is a great opportunity for students to supplement their home libraries with great books while raising funds for free books for their classrooms and the school library. 50% of the Book Fair sales goes back to the school in the form of free books.
The Book Fair will run Monday February 3 – Friday February 7. Students will visit the Book Fair on Monday and Tuesday to create Wish Lists. All families are invited to shop the Book Fair during Family Night on Tuesday February 4 from 5pm – 8pm. Students can purchase throughout the week during school hours as well. Grandparents are invited to attend the Book Fair with their student on Thursday February 6 from 10:30 am – 2pm during the school Grandparents Day event.
A new digital payment option, called eWallet, allows your student to shop the Fair cash-free. Can’t make it to the Book Fair? Shop The Scholastic Store online. Visit our homepage to access eWallet or shop online: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/buckhorncreekelemschool.
