GLOW GAZETTE
SEPT 6 2021 - FAMILY NEWSLETTER: GLOW ACADEMY
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I have received some questions this week regarding COVID protocols at GLOW, and as a result, thought it might be helpful to share with all parents the following information regarding mass notifications of positive COVID cases:
The protocols for schools are different this year, in that we are not sending mass notifications when students/staff test positive for COVID-19; however, we are being vigilant in our contact tracing to follow protocols for quarantining students and staff who are potential contacts of a positive individual. In all instances, we are erring on the side of caution in that if there is a question of exposure we are deeming it as such, and placing the student or staff in question in quarantine, so that we might mitigate spread of the virus at GLOW. So far, our efforts have been successful.
In any instance where we believe your daughter has been exposed to COVID-19, we will notify you and provide information about your next steps for quarantine, testing, etc. It is also important that you continue to communicate with us when your child has symptoms or is diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19 outside of school. In such cases, please keep your child at home, and email me at ktayloe@glowacademy.net with the subject line "COVID." I will respond with a phone call to provide additional guidance on your next steps before your child can return for in-person learning.
In addition to following protocols for quarantines, we are misting our classrooms daily to disinfect and ensuring that additional disinfecting is occurring in locations that have been utilized by students/staff who have tested positive.
Student safety will always remain our FIRST priority. We are fortunate that this is also a priority for you, our GLOW parents, and are grateful for the transparency you are demonstrating when you daughter or someone in you home is unwell. Please continue to provide this transparent communication, as it is imperative to keep our students and staff safe.
Wishing our students and families another great week at GLOW,
Kate B. Tayloe
Principal

👚 UNIFORM REMINDERS 👚
UNIFORM CLOSET SUPPLIES ARE RUNNING LOW!
Our GLOW Uniform Closet is utilized to help students who are not in compliance find the uniform pieces they need to get them back in class quickly; however, our UNIFORM SUPPLIES ARE RUNNING LOW!
If you have gently worn uniform pieces at home that your child has outgrown or is no longer wearing, please help us replenish our closet by donating these items back to the school. These donations can be dropped off by your student to their teachers or in our front office.
UNIFORMS (reposted from last week)
Two weeks ago, a school based leadership team met to discuss student uniforms and how we might both maintain expectations for GLOW uniforms while offering flexibility for families that is both cost conscious and in line with our current expectations.
As a result, we have made an adjustment to our uniform requirements to allow students to wear their own personal navy cardigan sweater or crewneck sweatshirt (no hood). Neither piece can have logos or labels and must be plain. You can find the updated Uniform Requirements HERE.
A Few Reiminders:
The GLOW Uniform Requirements/Expectations are outlined above; however we want to share a few reminders based on some compliance issues that have come up in the first few days of school:
- Leggings may be worn under the GLOW uniform skirt; however, leggings are NOT acceptable as pants.
- Denim/Jeans are NOT acceptable as GLOW uniform bottoms.
- Students may NOT wear hoods, hats, or bandanas at school. The only acceptable headwear/accessories are: headbands, bows, ribbons, and headscarves
- UPDATE/REVISED: The only outerwear (sweaters, sweatshirts, and jackets) that may be worn in the classroom are a plain navy cardigan, a plain navy crew neck sweatshirt (no hood, no logos), the GLOW cardigan, GLOW jacket, on cooler mornings, but these items must be removed in the classroom.
If you have questions about uniform compliance, please email ktayloe@glowacademy.net with the subject line "Uniforms."
