The Foxcast Weekly
Midsummer Update - July, 2021
I have amended our midsummer update with additional information. Please take another browse through our newsletter. Also, thank you to everyone who completed the departmentalization survey. In viewing the results, the teachers and community are for continued departmentalizing from 3rd-6th grade.
In addition, Fox Meadow will have two split classrooms for the 2021-2022 school year due to enrollment. Mrs. Higgins will be teaching the 2/3 split, and Mrs. El Helo will be teaching the 5/6 split. More information in regards to student homeroom placement will be coming out prior to our back to school event.
In the meantime, enjoy the summer. I will be back in the office starting July 30th!

You’re Invited to Our 6th Annual Fox Meadow POETRY PARK LIVE!
“Poetry Park Live . . . At Home – TAKE 2!
Who: Fox Meadow Students and Families
What: Summer Family Literacy Fun
When: June – July, 2021
Where: At Home
Why: To Celebrate Summer Reading
Come join your family on the “home park bench” as you share poetry from your summer book stacks! We invite our Fox Meadow students, families, and staff to read aloud favorite poems from books or from writer’s notebooks. First, design where your “Poetry Park Bench” will be outside (or inside)! Bring a blanket or beach towel to sit on if outside!
Complete your Gail Borden summer reading logs as you share poetry all summer! We look forward to celebrating your continued reading throughout the summer! Sip some lemonade while you savor poetry together in the sunshine! Consider staying a bit longer after your Poetry Park Live, to have a “book-nic” with your family: books + lunch = “book-nic”
Here are two poems to create:
First, enjoy designing a Spine Poem by stacking your summer book wishes! Take a picture of 3 – 4 titles in an order that sounds poetic! Send the picture of your spine poem to Mrs. Thompson to compile into a Fox Meadow Summer Poetry schoolwide book!
Also, you are invited to collect your family’s favorite words to turn into a list poem to share! Send to Mrs. Thompson’s email to share with our school as well. Be sure that your first and last name is on your writing, poets!
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mrs. Thompson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Also, as you are busy with summer cleaning at home, please gather books for all grades K-6th to donate at our famous book swaps! Our next one will hopefully take place this coming fall, so start saving! We look forward to both new and old favorite family literacy activities on the way; we can hardly wait to share all of the fun yet to come next school year 2021-22! Filled with hope and the best books!
Happy summer reading! Make poetry picture books and poetry anthologies a part of your daily book stack to enjoy as a family. Notice the names of your favorite poets/authors. May you be “walking on sunshine” as you get benched with books at Poetry Park Live . . . At Home! It will not be long until we can all gather together for Poetry Park Live . . .
