"Be More Awesome"
Thank you to those parents who were able to attend Curriculum Night last night. If you were unable to come, I will be sending home the information packet today which outlines what we discussed last night.
I will be sending home a conference sign-up form in the next week or two. I look forward to meeting with all of you.
Next Week at a Glance
Gabriel Math -
In Chapter 2, we will be adding and subtracting whole numbers, learning addition and subtraction rules, estimating sums and differences, and subtracting across zeros.
(students should be reviewing addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts until they are fluent)
Gabriel ELA -
Word Study - We are reviewing nouns (plurals & irregular plurals), pronouns, and adjectives. Their grammar packet each day includes the daily classwork and homework for the next two weeks. The word study assessment will be Friday, 9/12.
Writing - We are editing and revising our descriptive "favorite place" paragraphs.
Reading - Next week we will focus on on story elements (characterization, setting, plot, point of view, and theme).
Each week, we will alternate between reading log/response and reading comprehension sheets for reading homework.
I continue to read with individual students daily in order to get to know them as readers.
Science - We will begin our Astronomy unit next week.
Social Studies - In Chapter 2, we will learn about the Native American regions in North America. We are also learning valuable note taking skills (who? what? where? when? How?), as well as, t-chart notetaking and will conduct research on the iPads and library computers.
