A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
It was another great week at ECDC exploring and learning! We learned about many professions, tasted different types of apples and made applesauce, arranged flowers in the atrium, danced with scarves in music, and painted to music in the fashion of Kandinsky in art class. The PK and TK joined the K-2nd graders for morning Mass as well. We are enjoying getting to know all our new friends and playing outside is always a favorite part of the day. We thank God each day for the beautiful fall weather.
Due to a conflict, we have rescheduled picture day one more time! ECDC pictures will be taken Monday, October 5th, and Tuesday, October 6th. Mrs. Bergner sent all parents an email this week with your child's assigned picture day. All children have free dress on both days. Please remember to send appropriate shoes if your child needs to change after pictures.
We have chosen to move ahead with our Christmas program, however, adjustments for distancing will be in place. Since having all the children at once in the gym with many family members is not possible, each class will have its own program. The schedule is below so you can mark your calendars now. Each family will be given 4 tickets to attend the program. More information will follow in the weeks to come.
Wednesday, December 2nd
9:00 Bees
10:00 Raccoons
11:00 Frogs
Thursday, December 3rd
9:00 Otters
10:00 Owls
If your child received immunizations since enrollment time in February, please send an updated copy to sarah.bergner@marquetteschool.org.

Auction Update
Hello ECDC Families!
Marquette’s “No Show Auction” is next month, and we need your help to make it a success! Every year the ECDC makes two major contributions to the auction.
The first is a metal art project funded by donations collected from each ECDC class which are used to purchase metallic art from Garden Deva, and is then painted by every single ECDC student. This art project is then bid on at the the auction and typically raises a significant amount of funds for the school.
The second contribution involves providing bottles of wine which are then used in the Wine Pull. Even though there isn’t a live auction this year, we will still be selling tickets online for the Wine Pull. We are asking ECDC parents, if they are able, to please drop off bottles of wine any day between now and October 31st. You may drop off the wine at arrival or dismissal at the ECDC. If you are able to contribute, then your child is allowed to wear spirit dress the day on which your donation of wine is made.
Please make sure each bottle of wine is at least $20 in value.
Thanks in advance for your help and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks!

Earn Money for Marquette!
For years, Marquette has participated in a fundraiser called Scrip. It is a simple fundraiser that has the potential to earn a lot of money for our school. We have had very little support in the past, but with the new app, I'm hoping to change that! All you have to do is download the app, RaiseRight, and start earning. Purchase gift cards for everyday items (groceries, gas, home improvement, clothing, restaurants) through the app, and a percentage of each sale will go directly back to Marquette. For instance, my 11-year-old just hit a growth spurt and will need new uniform shirts and shorts. If I open my app, find Land's End, and purchase a $50 gift card, 15% of that will go back to Marquette! Or if I'm about to check out at Sam's Club or Target, I can open my app, purchase my gift cards, and scan the codes directly at check out! Marquette gets 2.5% back at both Sam's and Target.
If you download the app between now and Oct. 20th, your child(ren) will earn a SPIRIT DRESS day on Oct. 22nd/23rd!!

Conversations That Matter: The Intersection of Justice and Pregnancy
Registration is now open for Conversations That Matter: The Intersection of Justice and Pregnancy, a free webinar series hosted by the Notre Dame Office of Life and Human Dignity. Taking place between late September and early November, this series is designed for a general audience and is intended to assist anyone in engaging with topics that promote a more just society supportive of human flourishing for mothers and their unborn children.
Explore the following questions and more in an easy-to-follow Theology on Tap format:
- What is the relationship between the pro-life cause and the social justice movement?
- What factors affect women’s decision-making during a pregnancy?
- How do we encounter women in crisis from a place of non-judgment and radical hospitality?
Each session will begin with a 30-minute presentation from a featured guest and conclude with live Q&A. With these sessions, we hope to spark authentic dialogue that deepens our commitment to our fellow sisters and brothers and broadens our understanding of various and interrelated issues impacting women without the polarization and vitriol that currently characterizes these conversations.
These sessions will be recorded and available online. You might consider hosting these talks, live or recorded, as a Theology on Tap series for your parish or young adult group. We hope that Conversations That Matter will foster a richer conversation in your community.
