Dear Center Community,

It was a fun-filled enriching week at Center! 1st grade students were treated to a presentation by author, Brian Lies. Our Kindergarten students experimented with magnets with the assistance of the Discover Museum. Many thanks to our CSPTO for organizing these wonderful events.

Student council declared last Friday, Artists and Musicians Spirit Day. Students got to see and learn about some artists they may not have been familiar with, such as Bob Ross, Jojo Siwa, Freida Pinto and Rob Gibbs, among others. Come enjoy the talents of our very own CPS musicians at Choral fest Saturday at 1:30 at the high school.

Staff Updates:

Amy Miller has been hired as a long-term substitute to fill in for Cassey Muse. Ms. Miller is a familiar face, having filled in for two other leaves this year. Welcome back, Ms. Miller.

We look forward to welcoming back Betty Anderson in her role of recess and lunch aide on Monday. Many thanks to Kristen Benjamin for covering in her absence.

MCAS: Save the Dates

This year, students across the Commonwealth will be taking MCAS for our annual standardized state testing. Please mark your calendars for the important dates below. We strongly encourage all students to be present and on time these days. If your child is sick, we will have make-up sessions so that they are able to take the assessments when they are able to show their personal best work.

Chelmsford is fortunate to have access to iReady to support student learning. Students have access to this learning tool at home. Please reach out to your teacher if you have difficulty logging on. There is much research to support enhanced student achievement with use of this valuable tool.

From Center's Student Council:

Center School is collecting donations for Ukraine the week of March 14-18. Please send any donations you can for families, specifically items for newborns. We hope that during these difficult circumstances, we can send supplies to new parents so it is one less worry on their minds. Please refer to the list of appropriate items. Cash is also accepted in order to pay for shipping overseas.

-newborn or infant diapers, for infants under 20 lbs.

-formula packets- Target, Walmart, Amazon (PLEASE DO NOT SEND CANS AS THEY ARE TOO EXPENSIVE TO SHIP)

-baby wipes

-gauze bandages

-antibiotic cream

-diaper rash cream

-baby changing mats

-thermal underwear; children and women's (all sizes)

-baby thermometers

-pots and pans (they had to flee their homes with nothing and are trying to cook in the refugee camps, heat bottles, etc.)

-Cash donations to defray shipping costs

A new place to play!!

Our new playground structure has been ordered and scheduled to be installed in July!! A HUGE thank you to all those who organized and donated to our fundraising efforts. A special thanks to Erica Thornton, Gerard Wilson, and Steve Callaghan ( parent & Chelmsford Parks & Playground Director) for their time and effort researching and designing the new layout.
