Panui Week 7 Term 1

Waikawa Bay School Thursday 25th March 2021

Principal's Message

KI NGA MATUA NGA MIHI KI A KOUTOU KATOA

GREETINGS TO EVERYONE

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Tēnā koutou

Many great things have been happening at Waikawa Bay school recently!

The electives programme, which has been running for the last 4 weeks of this term has been a great success, with our students experiencing opportunities suited to our school community and environment.

Over the last four weeks we have had children fishing at Ngakuta bay, sailing in Picton Harbour, building huts in the forest behind QCC, bowling at the Picton Bowling Club, cycling the Snout track and Victoria Domain, practicing and competing in a triathlon event, learning the ukulele and playing inside board games. As well as this our Year 1 and 2 students continued their outdoor program at Shakespeare Bay and Waikawa Bay.

It was fantastic to see nearly all of our students out and about in our community and environment. A huge thank you to staff for organising and running these activities and especially the parents who gave up their time to share their expertise with our children.

Thank you also to all those members of the community who supported our Year 5 & 6 students Car Wash fundraiser earlier this week. With over 70 cars being washed, it not only kept the children extremely busy, but also helped raise a considerable amount towards their Camp to Lake Rotoiti in Term 3.

We are very excited about our Marae Noho next Wednesday night. It will be a great opportunity for the children to experience learning and living together in our Marae. Thank you to those who replied to first notice indicating if your child will be attending. Shortly we will be sending out another notice with full information including times, what to bring, etc.

Just a reminder that all schools in New Zealand will be closed on Tuesday the 6th of April, the Tuesday after Easter Monday. Although this date is not an official New Zealand holiday, it is classed as one by the Ministry of Education.

Just some of the activities our student's have been involved with over the last 2 weeks....

Please keep an eye out on our trees if you are passing school and let us know if you spot any suspicious Feijoa activity.
