The Condition

The Zellweger Spectrum Disorders, the most common of which known as the Peroxisomal Biogenesis Disorder, causes a wide varieties of deformities notable on one's face and head. The disorder's effect on the brain is even greater.

But Why? What does Peroxisomal Biogenesis Disorder effect?

Peroxisomal Biogenesis Disorder can affect most organs of the body. Neurological deficits, loss of muscle tone (hypotonia), hearing loss, vision problems, liver dysfunction, and kidney abnormalities are common findings. All caused by Peroxisomes, which are very small, membrane-bound structures within the gel-like fluid (cytoplasm) of cells that play a vital role in numerous biochemical processes in the body, mainly energy metabolism, but enzymes which would be created by a normally functioning peroxisome are essential to mammalian lung and brain function, so the brain and lungs are severely affected by this disorder.

However there is still hope,

Funding would truly be a great help to those afflicted with this disorder, The more that is known about this disorder, the more that can be done to alleviate its burden on those who are unfortunate enough to have this disorder.
