The Highland Academy Weekly
Educating for Leadership, Educating for Life
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are able to enjoy time with friends and family in this celebration of gratitude and service to others. We have an amazing community and I am honored to work with wonderful colleagues, students, and parents.
Not only is this four-day break a great chance to reboot and refresh, it is an opportunity for students to spend quiet time working on catching up before the end of the semester. Please encourage your child to log in to Empower, check for missing assignments, and spend time working. Quarter 2 progress reports will be headed your way in late December and this is a great opportunity to catch up.
Thank you for the amazing turn out at the Barnes and Noble book fair. We had a great turnout and a lot of fun activities.
Intensives are around the corner and we are always looking for parent help. If you are available to chaperone, drive, donate goods or time, please let us know. Schedules are in Empower, so if you'd like to see what your child is enrolled in, log in, change the date to Dec 12, and the courses will show up on the home page.
Have a safe and gratitude-filled weekend!
All the best,
~Ms. Johnson & Ms. Crosby

A Note From the Nurse
You may have heard about the recent localized illness at Rogers Park Elementary. The state Department of Epidemiology is involved in trying to narrow down the illness. With that said Health Services is offering another open to the public and free flu clinic on Friday December 6th from 230-430.
I also am able to continue giving flu shots from my office free for students or parents (who have insurance that covers immunizations)
