6th Grade Permission Slip and Information on Camp Adventure Trip

Emergency School Closing Form

Thank you, Diegidio Family!

Did you notice how tremendous our grounds look? To quote a colleague, "the grounds look loved and welcoming." This is thanks to the Diegidio family who edged and mulched the trees on our grounds (that's A LOT of trees!).

Please join me in thanking them for making our school community look the way we try to make it feel - loved and welcoming.

Back To School Nights

We had a great turn-out for our first two Back To School Nights this week. We welcomed our 3rd-6th grade parents back on Tuesday and Wednesday night with a bit of friendly competition. We look forward to seeing our K-2 parents next Thursday. I will start in the gym at 6:30 (bring your phone - you can win a prize!).

3-6 parents, please don't feel the need to come to my session again if you've already attended. I know I had some repeats last night (people are competitive and really want to win the prize!).

I'll include updates on what was presented after the last back to school night for anyone who was unable to attend.

Keeping Cool

Please know that your child's safety is our number one concern. We monitor the conditions in our building closely during times of warmth and cold.

It has been a warm start to the school year but it's not the first time we've had warm weather while school is in session. We use the Child Care Weather Watch chart to help us monitor safe temperatures. Today, for example, is a yellow day (at least later this afternoon it will be) so we will shorten outdoor recess a bit, particularly for the later recesses.

Students cycle through air-conditioned spaces throughout the day as most of our special area classes have air conditioning. All students also eat lunch in air conditioning. Our classes are also equipped with ceiling fans to help with air circulation. Our students are resilient and our staff are very mindful of what activities to engage the students with during these warm conditions.

If you're able to send your child in with a water bottle that would ideal. They can even bring the water bottle with them outside during recess to stay hydrated!

Stay cool everyone.

Race For Education

Be sure to keep an eye out for your Race for Education packets coming home next week.

Warwick's Race for Education is our PTO's major fundraiser which, among other things, funds two entire years of our operating budget, and together we can make it a huge success!

Plan to Volunteer? Get on the list!

Whether you plan on chaperoning a field trip, be a homeroom parent, or generally enter the building to work with our students, the State is now requiring volunteers to obtain clearances. Full information regarding obtaining these clearances can be found on the cbsd.org webpage. Please "get on the list" that HR will maintain for each school.

Effective July 1, 2016 (according to the state), volunteers must have their clearances on file with the CBSD Human Resources Department prior to starting volunteer work. Volunteers may drop off required paperwork at the Administration Center at 20 Welden Drive. CBSD is asking all volunteers for the 2015-2016 school year to provide clearances. Please "get on the list!"

Required Volunteer Paperwork

Click the Volunteer Information Packet for complete information and links to the required clearances. Note, the "Volunteer Affidavit" must be notarized.

You MUST contact Tracy Van Houten at 267-893-2010 to schedule notary services.

Please click Frequently Asked Questions for additional information.

If you have any questions, please contact the office of Human Resources at hr@cbsd.org

9/11 Heroes Run

It's not too late to register for the 9/11 Heroes Run! The 5K and 1 mile race is set for September 27th this year at the Fonthill Museum with a great course through beautiful Doylestown Borough. Please join Central Bucks School District as they support this very worthy event. Registration is simple and easy, and students, families, and friends can register as a team and compete together. Each team can manage their runners and their team from their very own "page." Just visit their site for additional information.

Parent Portal . . . .

The Central Bucks School district uses Infinite Campus as its student information system. The Parent Portal allows parents/guardians to view schedules, attendance, immunizations, and assessment information. Parents can also update demographic information for their family. The Parent Portal is now open. For more information on the parent portal please visit the CBSD web site, or contact Mrs. Taggart at 267.893.4050.

Effective with the 2015-2016 school year, elementary school parents will also be able to view, print, and/or save their child’s progress report directly from the Parent Portal.

Arrival / Dismissal Information

Student Drop Off: Between the hours of 8:45-9:05 and 3:30-4:15 all cars must enter the school by the Meetinghouse Road entrance. The entrance off of Almshouse is for Bus traffic only. This separation between bus and cars creates necessary safety.

Students should not be dropped off at school prior to 8:45 a.m. Teachers have professional responsibilities each morning and are not available to supervise students dropped off before that time.

Security: All exterior doors are locked, except the front door which leads to the office buzzer. If you plan on entering the building beyond the office, please be sure you have been added to our visitor calendar (this usually occurs through the classroom teacher). If you are not on the visitor calendar, you will not be permitted in to the building.

Please remember to ALWAYS sign in at the office when visiting between the hours of 8:30-4:05. When you sign in, we will verify that HR has received your clearances, and then you will be given a “Visitor” pass with your name, the date, and the location you’ll be visiting. Please also be sure to sign out when your visit has ended.

Late Arrival: A student who arrives to school after 9:05 is late and cannot be dropped-off. A Parent must accompany the child into the office to be signed in and to receive a late slip for them to be admitted to class. This procedure is in place for your child’s safety.

Dismissal Reminder

If you have an early appointment, please be sure to take your child out of school prior to 3:30. If you arrive between 3:30 and 3:45, I ask that you use the parent pick-up line which moves very smoothly. We will not be dismissing students from classrooms after 3:30. Bus dismissal ends by 4:05, parent pick-up is almost always finished by 4:00.

Thank you for your support in helping us create a safe and orderly dismissal procedure.
