Randolph County Athlete of the Week
Sophia started off the week on Tuesday at the Ansonia Tiger Quad. She helped the 4x800 relay squad to a first place finish in the event. She went on to place first in the 400 meter dash during the same meet. Finally, she paced her team to a 2nd place finish in the 4x400 meter relay. The schools included: Ansonia, Union City, Arcanum, and Covington
The next meet of the week was at Wapahani on Thursday. Sophia ran a 1:05.43 to once again place first in the 400 meter dash. She also ran a 28.64 which was good for 2nd place in the 200 meter dash at the same meet. The schools included: Wapahani, Union City, Blue River, and Seton Catholic.
Sophia capped off her week at the Randolph Southern Small School Invitational on Saturday. The competition was strong, with nine girls teams in the field. Sophia was able to take a second off her time from Thursday in the 400 meter dash. She ran a 1:04.35 which once again secured first place against a strong group of 12 other runners in the event.
Sophia received serious consideration for the athlete of the week by running at that high level three times in one week which is very challenging mentally and physically. CONGRATULATION SOPHIA JOB WELL DONE!
