Principal's Message
Dolvin Families –
Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I am grateful for YOU, the Dolvin community! Thank you for all you do to support your child(ren) and the staff of Dolvin. Whether you are traveling over the break, or will be cozy at home, I hope Thanksgiving is a time for your family to get what is needed – rest, energy, adventure, peace or…
As you have likely heard, December 6 will be another remote day for students and staff due to the election run-off. Much like November 8, teachers will communicate assignments to parents ahead of the day.
Your proud principal,
Karen
Thankful For Reading Day!
Do you have a favorite book you like to read?
Do you love to curl up with a good book and read all day?
To help us celebrate our love of reading, we will be having Thankful for Reading Day on Friday, November 18. Thankful for Reading Day will take place at school throughout the day. On this day, students may choose their favorite book character and dress-up like them or wear their pajamas to cuddle up in as they read. Please make sure their costume is not scary, reflects a book character, and is school appropriate. During the day, students will get to hear their teacher read their favorite books, visit special readers, and get to do Flashlight Reading which is where they silently read their own favorite book with a flashlight and lights off. If they bring their flashlight to school, please be sure it is packed in their book bags for the bus ride to keep everyone safe. This is going to be the best Thankful for Reading Day yet!
Assistant Principal's Message
Did you know?
There is a board policy for tardies, which can be found here:
http://go.boarddocs.com/ga/fcss/Board.nsf/goto?open&id=BXHSEX7264DA.
We understand that carpool can be a frustrating experience for many of our families, especially when your child is counted tardy to school and you had every intention to drop them off on time. We encourage our families to aim for carpool drop off at 7:15 - 7:20. It is our experience that if you arrive at that time you will not have an issue with a timely drop off. In fact, there is often a lull in carpool at this time. If a student is not inside the building by the time the bell rings at 7:40, we will count that student as tardy. If your child did not get into the building before 7:40 and the front doors are closed, you must escort them to the office to help them sign in and get a tardy pass. As a reminder, students who ride the school bus will never be counted tardy even if the bus arrives late.
Please adhere to the following Dolvin Carpool Rules:
- Do not pass cars in the Drop-Off Zone.
- Students must get out of the car on the passenger side.
- Drivers must stay inside the vehicle, no one should exit the vehicle on the drivers side.
- Pull as far forward as possible.
If you choose to park and walk your student to the front door, you must park in the top parking lot and walk with your student all the way to the entrance. Parents and students cannot cross over the carpool lane to get to the entrance.
You will love your Parent Portal
If you have not set up a parent portal, please do so by going to https://www.fultonschools.org/infinitecampus and clicking on the burgundy button labeled "Infinite Campus Parent Portal Activation". You will be asked for the email address you have listed with the school. You will then receive an email with further directions. You will need your student's ID.
Once this portal is established, you can do the following and lots more!
- Change Emails or Phone Numbers for your contacts (click on More, Family Information)
- View Attendance
- View Grades
- Read and/or sign off on important documents such as report cards, withdrawal forms, TAG consent forms, etc.
- Update your address, emergency contacts, etc. (Click on More, Online Registration, Existing Student and then go through the online application to make updates and hit submit.)
- Enroll younger children that are new to Dolvin.
You are going to love it!
Infinite Campus Notifications
Parents, please remember to check the Parent Portal in Infinite Campus regularly for notifications that may go out pertaining to your child.
Dolvin's Special Visitor!
We are so excited to announce that we will have a special visitor at Dolvin each week! Hudson, a hypoallergenic certified therapy dog will be available for students to read to and visit with on Wednesday mornings. Teachers will send a small group of students from their class to participate every other week. We will begin these visits after Thanksgiving break on November 30th.
If you do NOT want your child to participate in this activity, please email Cara Vollberg at vollbergc@fultonschools.org by November 18th.
Clinic News

To return to school, a student should be well (have improved symptoms) and must be free of fever without the use of fever reducing medications, vomiting or diarrhea for at the least 24 hours.
