Principal’s Message
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful winter break. While the unfortunate events that took place in Washington D.C. this week are heartbreaking, I am optimistic that better days are on the horizon. Change begins with what we teach our children. They are continually watching and learning from us. We need to model respect, integrity and love. Thank you for being such wonderful role models for your children and for instilling positive values in their lives. The staff at Red Oak is grateful to partner with you in this effort.
Please note that the Early Release Day that was scheduled for next Friday, January 15 has been canceled. January 15 will now be a regular school day.
If you did not get a chance to see Dr. Lubelfeld’s latest Community Update video, here is the link to view it. To watch the video with Spanish subtitles, please click the gear symbol on the YouTube video and select Spanish subtitles. Please make sure to watch the school board meeting next Tuesday, January 12 as more information will be shared.

If you would like paper copies of reading logs, they are available in the front vestibule at Red Oak. Get reading so Red Oak can win the iRead trophy!!
Introducing Our New Family Engagement Specialist
We are thrilled to announce that our very own José Castrejón (aka “Mr. C”) will be taking on the role of Community Engagement Specialist for our school district. This position, which was formerly held by Luisa Espinosa-Lara, was developed last year to provide an additional layer of support for our families throughout the district. Here’s what Mr. Castrejón has to say about this new opportunity:
Why were you interested in taking on this new position?
I have a clear understanding of our families and school needs. As a former student, I remember the struggles my parents went through in communication with the school and community and as I’ve networked with families, it’s evident that barriers still exist and I want to be an advocate for them.
What do you hope to achieve in this role?
I want to continue to remove any barriers and assure equity across our district.
What is one thing you want families to know about you?
I am very family oriented. I have two brothers and two sisters and a total of eleven nieces and nephews. I also enjoy choreographing quinceañera dances in my spare time.
Rocky’s Virtual Pop Up Shop
Please take a few minutes to watch this video from Mrs. Bellini with information about our new virtual reward system, Rocky’s Virtual Pop Up Shop. Parents are encouraged to join our school’s Class Dojo account so that they can see how many Rockets their students are earning.
Organic Life Food Service Delivery
The food is available for any minor under 18 - they do not have to attend our schools to qualify.
We will continue to provide daily meals for any child under the age of 18 for free at Oak Terrace school between 10:00-12:00, but we would like to help those that cannot make it to the in person pick-up.
