Principal's Message
Relationships Matter
Over the past two weeks, Kayla and I have received so much positive feedback about your hard work and support of students during remote learning. It is evident that the relationships you have formed with students and families truly makes an impact. I want to share just a few of the heartwarming comments from PUE parents:
My child's teacher has gone way above and beyond all year and especially during remote learning for our Kindergarten student. She has provided videos of encouragement, excellent lessons, positive feedback and engaging Google Meets. All of her hard work is evident and so appreciated. She is simply the best! We are so thankful.
My child's teacher has made this transition and situation as easy as possible for us. I know she is working tirelessly behind the scenes to do her very best for her class, on top of taking care of her own family and adjusting to this new normal. She communicates often with us, meets with her class for group time and reading groups (and has fun with it!), and encourages us as parents to ask her anything, anytime. She has repeatedly checked in to see if anyone has any needs, continuing to demonstrate how much she cares for her students. She is flexible and works WITH us as parents to educate our children in the best way for them. I know that it is not her sole responsibility to teach my child, but that we are a team, working together to do the best we can, and that shines brightly through. It is incredibly unfortunate that my son will not get to go back to his classroom under her leadership. She pushes hard, doesn't take any junk from her students, yet cares deeply for each boy and girl. It's not just about teaching for her; it's about loving. Each day when I have dropped my heart off at school, I have never doubted if he would be loved and well taken care of. As a mama, that matters more to me than any academic achievement he reaches.
My daughter has continued to be challenged to learn and grow, even virtually. It is obvious that she has a passion for teaching and cares for all of her children in the class. She has been an excellent communicator and resource for the students, as well as the parents. We have appreciated her guidance and patience through out this process! Her dedication to teaching is extremely admirable!
Staff Meeting
There will be a staff meeting on Tuesday, May 12 at 11:15. The agenda was shared yesterday afternoon. We will discuss some legislative updates due to the COVID-19 pandemic, grading, mandatory reporting requirements, and MTSS. The county has asked that we not communicate any further information about end of year report cards and grading until the district message on this goes out Monday, May 11.
The district created this new one page checklist to simplify expectations with grading. I found it to be helpful.
Mother's Day
Happy Mother's Day to every mom on staff. Please enjoy some self-care this weekend! To staff members who may have lost their mother, you are in our thoughts as this can be a bittersweet day.
Please remember Monica Stokes in the loss of her father this week. She has traveled to Rhode Island and is on the way back home now. Sending you our love Monica!
