News from Ms. Hess
Thanks to all who attended the monster band event! It was wonderful to see our musicians perform.
We had a blast during our SAIL glow dance party today! Celebrating together meeting our expectations makes for lasting memories!
In math this week we finished working with multiplying fractions and began to model the addition of unlike fractions with fraction tiles. Next week, we will work with subtracting using models and then diving into the standard method of multiplying to find common denominators.
This week in writing, we finished our imagined narratives and began to take one piece through the revision process. Next week, we will form writing clubs in order to give and receive feedback from fellow writers.
In literacy, we read tall tales from America and Sweden and practiced our strategy of visualizing. We also learned about hyperbole as a literary element in tall tales.
In time traveling, we learned about the first English settlements of Roanoke, Jamestown, and Plymouth.
Step Up Day
We will leave Amana at 10:30 am and are scheduled to eat lunch in the Middle School cafeteria (regular school lunch or lunch from home), then we will tour the Middle School, and watch the middle school play. We will be back for regularly scheduled dismissal.
