School / Family Newsletter - May/June 2022
Principal's Message
This month we celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week, Mental Health Awareness Month, and Asian American / Pacific Islander Heritage Month. Our teachers and counselors are doing an amazing job at immersing our students in these topics. We invite you to join us! Simply contact your child's teacher and inquire how you can be of assistance or volunteer with our Family Center to help with any of the upcoming events designed to celebrate these topics.
There are many wonderful things that are happening this month at Venetia Valley, all of which you will learn about as you continue reading through this newsletter! As always, we thank you for your continued support as we navigate this very challenging year while emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic.

VV Carnival - CANCELLED
It is with great regret that we inform you our Venetia Valley Carnival has been cancelled. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to proceed with our event. The HeadsUp Carnival that is usually scheduled for the fall of each year was scheduled in the spring this year and that threw us all for a loop. We found it difficult to plan for two major events simultaneously. In addition, the construction of our field limits the space we have available to ensure a safe and smooth event. We appreciate everyone for understanding the decision we had to make. We are excited to begin planning for next year's carnival, early in the year!
Thank you,
VV PTA & Mr. Q.

Food for Thought (for our middle grade families)...
As the principal, we frequently receive posts from various organizations that share insightful information regarding current trends in education. This one article in particular caught my attention because I too notice how students love their technology and connecting online can and is a very dangerous place for them. For that reason alone, I thought I'd share it with you. Thanks for taking a moment to check out the linked article below.
