LENAPE WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL

LETTER FROM PRINCIPAL SAULLO

Welcome to Lenape!

I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome everyone to Lenape Middle School. Lenape is a special place, filled with top- notch teachers and staff. We look forward to the start of this school year.

This has been a year like no other. While we are all getting used to a new way of doing things, we are still very excited to get this school year underway.

As you are well aware, we are opening on September 8th in a full virtual format. Our teachers have been preparing for the best experience to deliver to your students at home. We are confident they will still get a rigorous and exciting experience.

I wanted to include a few important items to start off the year! Each morning , by 7AM, you can expect an email from Lenape outlining the day and any important announcements that need to be communicated. Please be sure you have an up- to-date email address in the parent portal, as that is how you will receive our daily email/announcements.

September 8th is the first day of school and it will be an "A" day. From there, we will alternate back and forth between A and B days. You will notice on your child's schedule the elective courses are organized by A or B day. Also note, the time listed on the students schedules do not line up with the MS Bell Schedule. Please know we will be following the published 100% Virtual Bell Schedule.

So, students will have all of their academics and their "A" day specials/electives on "A day" and all of their academics and their "B" day specials/electives on "B days."

During the first week of school, teachers will be spending time going over virtual expectations and tutorials on all technology resources that they will be using to connect to school and their teachers. You will also receive communication for navigating all of the technology that will be used. Microsoft TEAMS and CANVAS will be the two primary ways students will access their materials.

Please note that Advisory/Lenape Loop has been reorganized. We are using a new model this year to give students more opportunities to connect with their team/grade level teachers. Teams will now be able to do team level activities and address concerns as they arise.

*Please be on the look out for our orientation video that was sent home on Sept. 3rd

*Please be on the look out for the date for parents/students can come to school to either drop off Lenape items/books or pick up course materials. This will be conducted outside with social distancing rules in place.

*Please note in this newsletter our updated bell schedule.

*Please note in this newsletter important technology resources that are available. https://www.cbsd.org/1to1

*Please be on the look out for Grade Level Team Letters w supply list included that will be emailed home and it's on our Lenape website.

Again, we are looking forward to an exciting and productive school year. As updates become available, we will be sure to communicate them out. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please let me know. I look forward to "seeing" all of the students and parents at Lenape.

Thank you,

Geanine Saullo

Letter from Guidance

Lenape's Guidance Office has been busy preparing for the start of a new school year. In addition to welcoming many new families, we have been working on student schedules, new student orientation and planning ways to support our students.

These are trying times for al of us, but we remain committed to providing support to our students and families. We're relying on you to let us know if you feel our support is needed because we may not always know that your student is struggling. The best way to reach us is email. We will offer helpful tips and resources on our new Canvas course as we begin the school year. We are also planning to set up a virtual appointment request system. Stay tuned. For now, we recommend that one of your "non-negotiables" at home includes making sure that students are logged in on time for class daily.
