Digital Divide
Newsletter from the Instructional Technology Specialist
September 2015
Greetings!
Welcome to the first issue of Ms. Darling's Digital Divide! As your Instructional Technology Specialist, I will be emailing my newsletter to you about once a month. This is where I will post lesson ideas, interesting articles, shout-outs and resources to help make your busy life a little easier. Please take a few minutes to read through the newsletter. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. My office is located between the library and the Computer Lab. I look forward to working with you this year as we bridge the digital divide.
Achieve 3000
Achieve3000 is a fantastic new program that VBCPS is implementing this year in grades 3-5. I will be working with the Reading Resource Teacher this fall to get all of our students set up on the program. If you were unable to attend the training during the summer, a shorter version of the training will be provided.
DefinedSTEM
DefinedSTEM provides ready to use science, social studies and language based lessons to students. All the teacher has to do is select the activity and decide what parts of the lesson you want your students to complete. I will be providing training on this fabulous resource in October. If you want to go ahead and check it out before my training, just click on the blue highlighted name. You will use your regular VBCPS username and password to log in.
CoreClicks
Core Clicks is a digital nonfiction reading program specifically designed for our K-2 students and teachers. Interactive instructional units guide whole classes or small groups through multiple “reads” of high-quality informational texts.
