Tour of Philadelphia

Philadelphia is a modern city that, as many cities, has been influenced by the Greeks. Philadelphia is a city of brotherly love, which comes from the Greek words philos meaning "loving" and adelphos meaning "brother". On this tour, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and Temple University will be explored.


Philadelphia Museum of Art

The building is designed like a Greek temple on a bigger scale. The main building was build using Ionic columns used by the Greeks. The museum's pediment also features Greek gods and goddesses. The main building is nicknamed the "Parthenon on the Parkway".


Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts

The Kimmel Center features a semi-circle orchestra, or stage, first developed by the Greeks.

The plays consist of comedies and tragedies, just like the Greek plays, but now many other genres have been introduced.


Temple University
