STEAM programming is being scheduled for all grades, too, as grade team leaders finalize dates and times with our PTSA STEAM coordinator for Pathways to Rhythm (3rd grade), the SkyDome Planetarium (5th grade), and Ellis Island: The Musical (4th grade). All of these enrichment offerings directly align with units and topics being covered in each of the grade levels either in Social Studies and/or Science.
The Halloween Sing-Along & Parade are less than a week away! The FEB 2022 Halloween Parade & Sing-Along Letter includes everything you need to know about our celebrations.

Important Reminders
Halloween
Please be mindful of the rules regarding costumes, the sing-along and parade, and safety protocols for the day at FEB. This is all in the letter that was sent home at the beginning of the month, but important to stress here again:
- Students cannot wear masks or bring in any loose accessories such as weapons that go along with their costumes. We are allowing students to bring the mask for the parade, but not for the school day or for the sing-along.
- Costumes must be safe and comfortable for students to wear. They still have to navigate an educational day at school, a parade/sing-along, and any other movement that takes place during the day.
- We ask parents to leave directly after their child's grade level performs. If you have a child in one of the other grades, you are more than welcome to remain in the same area. This will help keep the field from becoming too overcrowded.
We look forward to a fun day for everyone choosing to participate.
What Makes Your Family Special? Reminder
We recognize that each family is unique in many ways. It might be your culture, traditions, family history, or a special talent. Throughout the year, DW & FEB would like to celebrate the identities of our students and families. We recognize that children's sense of self is shaped by experiences that are unique to them and their families, and by common experiences shared by a community. We want to highlight what makes our Rye Neck community special and learn from one another. Don't be shy. If you're not sure, fill out the form and we'll be in touch to talk more about it with you.
If interested in sharing more about what makes your family special, please fill out the form below and we will reach out to you to schedule a time to come in. We will be making a series of short video interviews to share with our students.

We look forward to learning more about YOU and the rich collaborative conversations celebrating our diversity.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Please use the Sign Up Genius link you received in an email to schedule your child's Parent Teacher Conference. You have the choice of attending in person or meeting with the teacher(s) remotely. Slots are filling up fast and the first date of conferences is approaching fast! If you need the link reshared, please reach out to Ms. Laychak, Ms. Sheeky, or your child's teacher(s).
RULER Family Engagement Events
Bellows hosted their first RULER event for families and helped those who attended to work on creating a Family Charter together. For more information on how you can use the Mood Meter and the Charter as social-emotional tools at home, we encourage you to attend these meetings. Children are welcomed and you will walk away being able to support the RULER approach both at school and at home. The next one is scheduled for November 16th in the FEB Auditorium at 6 pm.

Newspapers Needed
Please send any and all newspapers to Bellows for an upcoming fifth grade project (no magazines please). Students will work to create an actual weight bearing bridge using nothing but newspaper and masking tape. Teams of 5th graders will start "companies", create a proposal, and decide on the purchase of materials all in an effort to build a bridge that will hold at least 100 pounds.
