REIMBURSEMENT PLAN FOR LITTLE MERMAID TICKETS
You can receive a refund for "Little Mermaid" tickets purchased last March. Our PTA volunteers will be at the school Monday and Tuesday this week between 8:10-8:45am and again after school from 3:15-4:00pm. If you have a scheduling conflict, please contact Natalie Hunter or Jodi Mulitalo directly to obtain reimbursement. Please bring your tickets with you as you will need them to receive your money. If you would prefer to donate your ticket purchase to the school, we appreciate your donation and will be pooling it into the PTA School Fund for activities/events for the kids this year. Thank you for all of those who have helped with any aspect of this play. We have an amazing community of volunteers and helpers at our school.
Speech Contest in Honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The Davis School District Educational Equity Department invites all K-12 students currently enrolled in the Davis School District to enter the 2020-21 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. speech contest. This gives our students the opportunity to reflect on the legacy of Dr. King and what they can do to make a positive difference.
The contest is divided into four categories:
Elementary K-2
Elementary 3 - 4th
Elementary 5 - 6th
Secondary 7 - 12th
You are encouraged to share this opportunity with your students. The contest ties into the Common Core and DESK standards on Reading, Writing, and Speaking and Listening. Contestants must memorize an excerpt between 1 -3 minutes in length, of one of Dr. King's speeches.
Cash Awards:
1st Place $100.00
2nd Place $75.00
3rd Place $50.00
Speeches will be given in room 56 on October 26, 2020. One winner from each category will be selected to advance to District judging on either November 20th or November 23, 2020. Please email avanderlinden@dsdmail.net with the names of your students who wish to participate so that an interview time may be scheduled.
Thank you!

UPDATED Box Tops for Education Program
Traditional Box Tops clips are being phased out of production, but may continue to be found on many products throughout the store. You can still clip and send them to school. Every valid Box Tops clip is worth 10¢ for your school. Make sure each one has a clearly visible product acronym and expiration date. Physical Box Tops Fall deadline is Thursday, October 29 ! Please return them to school in a ziploc or taped to a paper by this date!
Eventually the Box Tops program will become digital-only. Participating brands are starting
to change their packaging from a traditional Box Tops clip to the new Box Top label.
If you see this label, use the new Box Tops app to scan your receipt. Box Tops are still
worth 10¢ each for your school. The app will find participating products purchased at any
store and instantly add cash to your school's earnings online.
REFLECTIONS ENTRIES DUE OCTOBER 20TH
Submit Online: https://www.utahpta.org/ref
2020 has been a "one of a kind" year, full of new opportunities, challenges and experiences. The Reflections Theme for this year is "I Matter Because..." What a great opportunity for our kids to share with us what they have learned this year regarding why they matter. Kids are allowed to submit entries in the following categories - Dance Choreography, Film Production (where they do all of the filming), Literature, Music Composition, Photography, 2D or 3D Visual Art. Although a treasure to us all, we would love to have the kids at Reading show us why they matter.
If students from Reading are interested in submitting a Reflections Entry, please visit https://www.utahpta.org/ref. All submissions will be submitted online from the comfort of your own home or wherever you have internet access :) and no longer will have to be physically turned into the school. If you have any problems or need additional help with submitting, please contact Jodi Mulitalo at jodi.mulitalo@gmail.com. I am looking forward to seeing the great talent we have at Reading!
