MARCHING BAND
Marching Band is ready to rock and roll! Here is a message from our band director Colin Woefle.-First rehearsal and parent meeting will be Monday evening, August 16th, in the AHS Auditorium. We will meet from 6:00pm until approximately 7:00pm, then the students will stay until our regular 8:15pm rehearsal time.
Rehearsals will continue Monday-Thursday for three weeks in August/September from 6:00-8:15pm: 8/16-8/19, 8/23-8/26, and 8/30-9/2. Students will spend time in the music department and in the stadium depending on our activities for the night and the weather. Students should listen for instructions at rehearsal regarding where we will be meeting.
Once the school year starts, we will be rehearsing only two days a week on Monday and Wednesday. If you have conflicts on Wednesday evenings, please let me know and we will work it out. There is a Google Calendar linked to our band website https://sites.google.com/rdale.org/armstrongband/home and Mr. Woelfe will be populating that with rehearsals and performances.
Students will receive their music at the first rehearsal. Students who play a woodwind or brass instrument that are in need of renting a school instrument should contact me. Traditionally we have issued these in the Spring but since that did not happen we will get them ready to go for Monday night. Mr. Woelfe will be contacting the drumline in a separate email regarding instrument assignments and distribution.
The marching band will have its first performance at the Minnesota State Fair on Friday, August 27th. The band members will meet in the Armstrong Band Room at 11:45am to load the buses and depart. We warm up and stage at the fairgrounds at 1:00pm and the parade begins at 2:00pm. There are several bands performing this day and we will not find out where we are in the parade order until we arrive. The band will get done marching approximately 3:00-3:30pm. We will load and leave the Fair at 8:00pm, returning to AHS at approximately 8:30pm.
Just so you can get a few dates on your calendar, our 4 home football games are 9/3, 9/24, 10/8 (homecoming), and 10/15 (no school that day). Plymouth on Parade is 9/18, and the Anoka Halloween Parade is10/30.

Schedule change Requests
In rare instances, principals have the authority to make modifications to student schedules. Because registration directly influences the school's schedule, students will need to fulfill their requests unless the:
● student is misplaced in the class (determined by the teacher and/or counselor)
● student fails to meet prerequisites
● student with 13-14 credits elects to drop a course
● student needs adjustment due to enrollment in postsecondary options
● student has duplications, irresolvable schedule conflicts or a credit or course imbalance
Once the semester begins, changes are only made for the above reasons within the first five days. Students will have an opportunity to make changes prior to each semester.
