Early Dismissals
IF YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR CHILD EARLY, PLEASE FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES:
Students leaving early must be picked up by 2:00 PM. No early dismissals will occur after this time. It is our top priority to make sure each student safely arrives at their destination. Dismissals after 2:00 PM create confusion for students and staff. If you must pick your child up early, please arrive in the office no later than 2:00 PM. Early Dismissals are UNEXCUSED unless sent home by the nurse or a Medical/Doctor note is provided.
1. Report to the office – NOT the classroom.
2. Be prepared to show photo ID. This procedure will help insure that the child(ren) leaves with properly designated persons.
3. Someone from the office will send for your child(ren) after your arrival.
4. Sign the student(s) out of school and give a reason for the early dismissal on the form provided in the office. This is for the safety and protection of your child(ren) should they need to be located at a later time.
Art to Remember
Right now, students are busy creating colorful, fun art and soon you will receive a personalized order form showcasing your child's art. There are over 40 products available all featuring your child's art. Many of the products are less than $15. There is safe, secure online ordering available. Your satisfaction is guaranteed. These products make great gifts for all occasions. Your purchase captures a moment in time with your child and supports the art program at Concrete Primary School.
Thank you for your support,

A Note From the Nurse
Dear Parents;
With October arriving with all the beautiful fall colors unfortunately we also begin to see the arrival of germs that make our students sick. Please refer to the district web site for our illness guidelines. Remember that if your child has a temperature over 100.5 they should not come to school until fever free for 24 hours after the last dose of fever reducing medication. With your help we will try to keep our students healthy and at school.
Have a great October!
Nurse Carol
A NOTE FROM OUR READING COACH
We will have our $1 Bookstore again this school year! The $1 bookstore will be open on the first Friday of each month in Mrs. Porter’s classroom from 7:20-8:00 a.m. The opening date of the $1 bookstore is Friday, October 4th. All students are welcome to come and shop for a brand new book. All books only cost $1. Students are only allowed to buy one book each month. This is a wonderful way to grow your home library.
Last month, we celebrated a couple of special literacy events throughout our school. We enjoyed celebrating Dot Day on September 13th. Many of our classes read the book and did a lot of fun learning activities to go along with the reading. Thanks to everyone who dressed in dots and joined in the fun! We also celebrated International Literacy Day throughout the first week of September. Mr. Williams, our new assistant principal, went to each classroom and read aloud to the students for this event.
Reading Tip: Encourage your child to re-read favorite books and poems. With repeated readings, he or she should be able to read more quickly and accurately.

Concrete Library Reading Club 100 Book Challenge
We love reading at Concrete Primary! If your child reads 25 books and returns the signed log each 9 weeks, he/she will receive an award on Awards Day for reading 100 books. Completed first nine weeks logs are due to Mrs. Payne in the library by Tuesday, October 22.
Read Your Way to the Big Game Contest
As a reminder, our students have the chance to participate in the South Carolina Department of Education’s 2019 Read Your Way to the Big Game contest. Students who read six books and return a completed entry form will be entered for a chance to win tickets to the Palmetto Bowl on November 30. A statewide winner for Clemson and a statewide winner for the University of South Carolina will be selected. The two statewide winners will receive four tickets and pre-game sideline passes to the Clemson vs. South Carolina game. Completed forms are due to Mrs. Payne in the library by Friday, October 25.
