Divisibility Rules
When looking at a number such as 23456 you can easily look at the ending number ( 6,) and see that it is an even number , therefore it's divisible by 2. To find if a number is divisible by 3 add all the numbers together , and if your answer is divisible by 3 then the whole number is divisible by 3. For example 236 when you add these numbers together you get 11. Eleven is not divisible by 3 so the whole number is not divisible by three. If you want to know if a number is divisible by 4 add the last two digits , and if your answer is divisible by 4 then your whole answer is divisible by 4. To know if a number is divisible by 5 look at the ones place. If in the ones place there is a 5 or a 0 the number is divisible by 5. The rule for 6 is if the number is divisible by 2 or 3 then the whole number is divisible by 6. If you can double the the last digit in your number , and subtract the sum from the rest of the number , and get an answer that is divisible by 7 ( including 0 ,) then your number is divisible by 7. The rule for 8 is if the digits form a number that is divisible by 8. 9's rule is if the sum of all of the digits is divisible by 9. 10's rule is pretty simple. The number has to end with 0. Follow these rules and you can easily know what a number is divisible by.
