Mr. Jeff Farr - California Tech Ed Teacher of the Year!!
Jeff Farr of Foothill High School has been selected as the California ACTE Teacher of the Year. Jeff will now advance to the ACTE Region V level (Region V is a 10-state region) for their consideration at the regional level.
Chris Price is FHS Teacher of the Year and Now Honored as TUSD Teacher of the Year!!! Go Knights!!
Chris’ greatest contribution to our school and our wonderful community was starting the Film and Television Program at Foothill! He proposed and wrote a class, Digital Filmmaking, and twenty-five students signed up. Those students learned all of the parts of visual storytelling from script to screen and created various film projects like narrative films, music videos, documentaries, and commercials. Within one year, the enrollment grew to 150 students and the film and television program was born at Foothill. Chris developed curriculum for four brand new classes over that year long period and started teaching those classes as a now-certified CTE pathway. His other love is the Baseball Field - Outstanding Baseball Coach. Go Knights!!

Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) Club
A long-standing club in the District, Foothill’s Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) seeks to create an environment where all LGBT students—lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and non-binary—as well as those students’ allies can feel accepted and welcomed.
The club strives to provide students with knowledge to help guide them, including presentations on legal protections and LGBT history, as well as supporting services such as the Trevor Project and The OC Center, which provide students with suicide prevention services and connections with specialists who can provide counseling and advice to students in need. In addition, GSA participates in community service projects, including the Church of the Foothills Pumpkin Patch and the popular Day of Silence, where students can choose to take a vow of silence to stand in solidarity with victims of hate crimes and those afraid to speak out. This year, the National Day of Silence is on April 21.
This year, GSA hopes to be able to make an impact in the Foothill High School community and give support to all students to allow them to be their most successful and proud selves, as well as providing them with relevant information to allow them to remain informed and active in their own futures.
FHS Students Soon to Participate at the Student Television Network
In just a few short weeks, students in the Film and Television program at Foothill will have a chance to take part in the nation’s largest convention for student broadcasters and filmmakers, Student Television Network. STN takes place in Anaheim at the Anaheim Convention Center from March 28-31, 2017. Foothill will be sending seventeen students to participate at STN where they will have the chance to walk exhibits and have hands on experiences with industry grade cameras, lighting, and software and take workshops from industry professionals. Students will also have the chance to work on contests and receive critiques from professionals
The student filmmakers in the advanced film class, Independent Film Projects, have been invited to judge the narrative films in the SoCal Student Film Festival. This high honor has allowed those students to have the unique opportunity to judge films from around the country and the world. Starting in January, the students began watching and discussing films and have viewed nearly 100 short films in the narrative and experimental categories. Foothill students have taken an active role in this decision making process and will partner and participate in the SoCal Student Film Festival on April 29, 2017 which takes place at Beckman High School.
